About the Job
The Marketing and Communications Specialist II is an essential position in the BRI Marketing and Communications department (MarCom). The person in this role will support the production and maintenance of high-quality communications materials, help to organize both internal and external events and be a part of an inspired team. You will be a BRI brand ambassador who works closely with the media, public, scientific community and internal staff to elevate BRI. You are creative and understand the channels to reach a wide variety of audiences and can produce targeted written and multimedia content for each.
The job requires a person who values working in and with a team, who is a proficient writer, enjoys engaging with community and media and is comfortable multi-tasking in a deadline-driven environment. This role requires an individual who is organized, a dependable self-starter and able to manage a number of tasks and projects. It is critical that this team member embrace both exciting and mundane tasks with equal gusto and attention.
We offer a hybrid work schedule. On site minimum of 3 days per week - to be agreed upon.
Responsibilities:- Support in the planning and execution of internal and external events to support BRI strategic initiatives.
- Attending community events as a brand ambassador for BRI.
- Support in the creation and editing of content for internal and external communications.
- Represent the MarCom department in contacts with BRI staff and leadership, board members; and with outside contractors and agencies.
- Responsible for growing BRI’s online reputation, visibility and community, leading to increased web traffic, blog readership, engagement and support.
- Support the department with coordination of public relations and media opportunities.
- Serve as project management support and on occasion project lead for various marketing and communication related projects.
- In consultation with the Director and in collaboration with MarCom colleagues, PR agencies and news editors, plan annual social media strategy and quarterly editorial calendars aligned with publication and website content and informed by social listening and data analytics.
- Generate, curate and post content across all social media networks and respond to comments and questions following social media guidelines.
- Monitor and generate quarterly metric reports of online activity and engagement, sharing insights and best practices.
- Provide social media technical assistance and advice to BRI leadership and staff.
- Help write and produce high-quality communications materials and fact sheets.
- Provide event and tour support.
- Execute general administrative tasks to support the Director and department.
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field and
- 3-5 years’ work experience in public relations, journalism or communications role or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
- Experience in medical research or a healthcare related field strongly preferred.
- Experience in a non-profit or agency environment is preferred.
- Experience in public relations or related field.
- Experience managing social media platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Strong attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with people at all levels of the organization and from a wide variety of backgrounds.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to occasionally work outside of normal business hours.
- Knowledge and experience with relevant computer software programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Publisher, InDesign or others.
$68,130 to $104,240 per year
