Manufacturing Engineering Manager
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager exists to lead both tactical and strategic planning, development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing methods and processes for new and existing products. To develop, manage and mentor a team of cutting-edge Manufacturing Engineers. To partner with the Operations, Design and Applications Engineering team to measure and improve overall manufacturing capabilities, DFM and to support Lean 6-Sigma and Continuous Improvement projects. To provide “Hands On” leadership and support throughout the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
·Accountable for providing leadership and direction to the Manufacturing Engineering team and Machine Shop employees.
·Develop, manage, mentor and evaluate employee performance throughout the year
·Development of resource plans to support Key Objectives, Initiatives & production goals
·Develop, update and maintain Manufacturing Process documentation and Work Instructions
·Communicate and interface regularly with key stakeholders and employees throughout the BSE organization
·Closely partner with Operations and Quality Assurance to improve overall process capability and quality of manufactured components and assemblies
·Provide a “bridge” between Production initiatives, Automation Engineering, Product Development and Design/Applications Engineering.
·Review designs for manufacturability and cost (DFMA)
·Responsible for the validation and qualification of new manufacturing equipment
·Develop, monitor and report on Manufacturing KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators)
·Up to 20% travel required to BSE facilities.
·Perform miscellaneous, and non-standard duties as required. Such duties are diversified in nature and may be changed from time to time to suit the needs of the company.
Qualifications
Education:
- BSME or equivalent technical degree and/or demonstrated experience in a similar manufacturing environment
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years managing and developing high performance engineering teams
- Preferred experience:
- 8+ years working in a supplier-based manufacturing environment
- Experience with machining small and medium sized precision components made from a variety of polymers and metals
- Experience with Laser welding processes and techniques
- Experience implementing Continuous Improvement, Lean initiatives, developing and implementing Process Capability studies
- Overseeing and approving DFMA reviews and approval of engineering drawings
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
·Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
·Must be able to promote and work in a highly collaborative environment
·Experience utilizing PLM software platform and Enterprise Resource Planning tools (ERP)
·Familiar with manual and CNC machining techniques and tooling
·Must be hands on and interface with plant personnel and machinists
·Well versed in Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) best practices
·Proficient with utilization of Microsoft Office tools and CAD Software
·Proficient with Engineering and Manufacturing 3-D model and drawing best practices
·Working knowledge and understanding of GD&T best practices, ASME y14.5-2018 / 2009
