Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
This role will work directly with various functional groups inside the company to establish project, product, or process specifications. You will translate these specifications into product, process, tooling, or equipment designs and collaborate with internal engineering teams and external suppliers to see projects through to completion. Typical projects may include the introduction of new and/or automated processes to a production setting, product/process redesign efforts for material or labor cost reduction, and management of strategic business goals for manufacturing.

Work Environment
Manufacturing operates 24/5 and may require more than a 40-hour work week. There are 600 total employees across four plants on the campus. The team focuses on process automation of existing processes, new product launches, advising, and creating production equipment and designing tooling. Work will be conducted in both the manufacturing plant and office settings.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.07 - $54.33

Job Description

Responsibilities
- Develop detailed specifications for processes, equipment, or tooling required to achieve objectives.
- Develop process, equipment, and tooling runoff and validation plans. May directly execute runoff plans and tasks related to equipment build, recipe creation, or modification required for successful validation.
- Drive process improvements and activities to achieve waste elimination, cost improvement, and lead time reduction.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, identifying and managing on-time delivery of critical path items.
- Partner with suppliers of tooling and equipment as necessary to achieve project goals.
- Forecast spending and manage budgets for any Capital Investment Project that may be identified or assigned.
- Lead or facilitate kaizen activities to improve production processes or introduce new solutions for business growth.
- Prepare project updates for management and serve as a project leader of cross-functional teams.
- Mentor and develop other engineers or engineering technicians.
- Travel to support equipment validation prior to arrival, with travel being less than 15%.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field with significant mechanical experience.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience with lean engineering or similar business methodology.
- Experience coordinating complex projects.
- Familiarity with tools such as kaizen, lean, standard work, mistake-proofing, statistical process control, FMEA, and problem-solving processes.
- Experience in the verification and validation of manufacturing processes.
- Experience with equipment or tooling design and fabrication.
- Technical drawing interpretation and report writing.
- Mechanical design, 3D modeling, and 2D detail drawing creation.
- Ability to work with open-ended objectives to prioritize and identify critical paths.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a manufacturing support environment.
- Process automation or machine design experience (PLCs, LabView, other automated controls or languages) preferred.
- 3D or 2D modeling (Solidworks, Creo, AutoCAD, etc.) preferred.
- Manufacturing project management experience or new product/production cell launch experience preferred.
