The Occupational Nurse is responsible for clinic management, case management and wellness and other support activities for personnel located at an assigned CNH location. This position is part of the North America Region Environmental, Health, Safety and Energy team located onsite at an assigned facility.
Responsibilities:
Clinic Management:
* Treat injuries / illnesses both occupational and non-occupational at both the manufacturing location and supporting the engineering test center.
* Provide treatment protocols and parameters for local management team, emergency responders, safety leader and HR.
* Counsel employees for work and non-work related / personal issues.
* Provide clearance examinations for employees returning to work after a medical absence.
* Maintain / change all SHARPS units as needed per Blood Borne Pathogen standard.
* Support Medical Waste Management Program.
* Administer preventative Hepatitis B and Tetanus program
* Manage and resupply medical and pharmaceutical supplies as needed.
* Administer on-site drug testing per company policy and according to the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) guidelines, including blood, urine and breathalyzer sampling
* Administer / manage Health Management System Program (NASP-22).
* Administer / manage Respiratory Protection Program (NASP-08).
* Administer / manage Audiometric Program (NASP-04).
* Administer / manage Heat Stress Program (NASP-18).
* Administer / manage Blood borne Pathogen Program (NASP-14).
* Support ongoing covid protocols, prevention, testing, and vaccination efforts with Safety, HR, and local management team.
* Support Personal Protection Program (NASP-14).
* Support Industrial Hygiene Program (NASP-17).
* Support Transitional Duty Program (NASP-21).
* Generate documentations, records and reports.
* Utilize occupational health management (OHM) data system.
* Support WCM through managing and maintaining WCM Health Lab and health pillar activities.
Case Management:
* Support plant accident investigation and tracking process (SEWO).
* Support and collaborate medical management of worker's compensation.
* Identify employee case histories.
* Refer to medical specialist(s) as needed.
* Liaison with medical providers to ensure good communication.
* Work with nurse case manager on all open medical claims for early RTW to achieve cost savings in accordance with Transitional Duty Program (NASP-21).
* Work closely with treating physician, physical therapist, case manager to develop plan for successful RTW savings in accordance with Transitional Duty Program (NASP-21).
* Work closely with physical therapist, nurse case manager, and immediate supervisor to manage injury, assist with work simulation, and build endurance for successful RTW full duty pre-injury status savings in accordance with Transitional Duty Program (NASP-21).
* Secure standing medical orders from physician.
* Report all worker's compensation claims to carrier in a timely manner.
* Communicate with worker's compensation carrier to develop open lines of communication for successful claim management.
* Manage on-site job coaching, physical therapy, case management referrals.
* Conduct weekly medical claim staffing meeting with therapist, nurse case manager to evaluate claim progress and treatment plan.
* Meet weekly with safety and HR site leaders to manage ongoing occupation injury status updates and return to work strategies.
* Update supervision and all required management staff of current medical updates including work restrictions after medical appointments.
* Support FMLA/ Short-term disability program.
* Manage early intervention program.
* Maintain all appropriate medical documentation of claim.
* Lead site WCM Health Pillar team
Wellness:
* Act as Site Wellness Champion.
* Actively participate on month Wellness conference calls.
* Coordinate monthly site wellness committee meetings.
* Wellness education that could include: annual health fair, weight management programs, hypertension, skin cancer, cardiac/diabetes screenings.
* Administer annual flu shot program.
* Provide education of personal health issues for employee and or family member.
* Support smoking cessation coaching and consulting.
* Provide blood pressure checks.
* Provide vision testing including coordinating laser eye exams. (I AM NOT SURE IF NHP ACTUALLY DOES LASER EYE EXAMS)
* Support drug and alcohol abuse coaching and consultations.
* Support nutritional coaching and consultations.
* Support Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
* Assist in health fairs, Employer family day programs, wellness challenges, etc.
* Support WCM through managing and maintaining WCM Health Team and Lab.
Other Support:
* Work closely with Safety (EHSE) and Human Resource department.
* Attend safety and HR meetings as required.
* Maintain 300 and 301 OSHA log, and support local safety leader with incident record keeping.
* Coordinate job function analysis and assist workplace organization operations and safety with ergonomic evaluations (MURI).
* Assist and support with Risk Assessment process.
* Support safety improvement projects and incident corrective actions (Kaizens).
* Assist with OSHA or other related regulatory inspections.
* Assist with health and safety related audits.
* Assist with SDS management and PPE recommendations.
* Support new employee training and orientation.
* Train and / or administer First Responder Program, including 1st aid/CPR/AED, BBP.
* Participate in emergency planning and drills.
* Provide medical leadership in emergency and crisis situations.
* Support WCM Safety and Health pillar plant initiatives such as visual management of safety KPI and KAI (green cross). (This is done by SAF leader)
Ensure regulatory compliance with State Nurse Practice Act, FMLA, ADA, STD, LTD, EPA and HIPPA as required
* Other duties as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
RN, LPN, Paramedic or EMT licensed in the jurisdiction in which they are performing the services.
A minimum of 3 years' experience in Occupational Health Nursing, ICU, ER or Community Health.
