We're looking for a Manager of Compensation and Payroll Services for our Human Resources Department. This important role has responsibilities that include the U.S. payroll processing activities and managing the time keeping vendor relationship to ensure achievement of service level requirements. In addition, you will support Crane Currency's associates with U.S. benefits & services.
Compensation Services Mgr is Responsible for
- Manage and execute compensation practices including managing our merit and bonus processes and plans, business unit, payroll, including weekly, bi-weekly and monthly pension payroll processing, (review check previews for accuracy and approval), and serve as an advocate for benefits & wellness services.
- Lead the business unit and year-end bonus & merit processing.
- Lead payroll related projects that impact the company and support other local teams, if requested, in their project initiatives with the payroll provider.
- Given the strong linkage between payroll, benefits, compensation and HRMS, participate as a member of the team to effectively understand and communicate the impact various programs and projects have on our current processes for payroll.
- Advocate for continuous process improvement opportunities, and efficiencies in practices
- Stay fresh in legal and compliance practices in this area. Attend seminars, workshops, and events to stay up-to date.
- Stay informed of all time & attendance and payroll tax and compliance matters impacting Crane locations. Communicate and provide support to business unit payroll teams to ensure processes and controls are in place locally and with the payroll provider.
- Collaborate and partner with accounting, audit, and legal, as needed, to ensure compliance, funding accuracy, payroll budgeting and forecasting.
- Review and maintain payroll policies and procedures to comply with SOX requirements; recommend and execute process improvements.
- Manage and escalate payroll and benefit related issues to third parties and work with each to ensure timely resolution.
Qualifications
- BS degree in Business Accounting or a related field preferred
- Minimum of five to seven years’ experience with multi-state payroll preparation and filing in compliance with Federal, state, city, and local taxing requirements.
- Minimum five to seven years’ experience managing payroll in an in-house or outsourced environment. Experience with ADP, Kronos, or other related products and PeopleSoft highly preferred.
- Project Management skills with proven success leading projects.
- A self-starter with strong analytical, decision-making and attention to detail skills required.
- High degree of ethics and ability to manage confidential information.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office products, including proficiency with Excel.
- Knowledge of General Ledger Accounting Standards, IRS policies, Department of Labor regulations and practices.
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) preferred.
