Job Description
We are seeking an engaging, forward thinking leader to lead the Welding, Brazing and Nondestructive Testing (NDT) programs and serve as the HII Global Security group (HII GS) NDT LEVEL III and Weld Advocate.
Essential Job Responsibilities
The NDT Level III Examiner will manage and oversee HII Global Security’s Welding and Nondestructive Test (NDT) Program within the Fleet Sustainment portfolio to ensure compliance with NAVSEA Welding, NDT, and other contractual requirements. Accomplish periodic Internal Audits of the Welding/Brazing and NDT program in compliance with company’s Quality Management System (QMS) and customer requirements. Develop and administer NDT Level I and II personnel training and certification processes, ensuring that NDT personnel are competent and qualified to perform the applicable NDT test methods in compliance with contractual requirements. NDT Examiner will develop and maintain NDT and Welding/Brazing procedures, as well as workmanship standards, while ensuring the adequacy of the program. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: developing and maintaining Welding Workmanship and Qualification Program to ensure welders and welding operator qualifications comply with NAVSEA standards and contractual requirements; providing welding workmanship training and examination for all welders, brazers and inspectors in compliance with company and customer requirements; developing and maintaining welding procedures in compliance with NAVSEA and contractual requirements; developing welding surveillance program and analyzing the results and providing feedback to the Senior Quality Manager; providing training to quality and line operations Quality Control Inspector (QCI) personnel in conducting weld surveillances; interprets drawings and work specifications, procedures, and other technical requirements; compiles and prepares technical and interpretive reports relating to NDT workmanship trends; analysis of reject rates; the resolution of problems; and the impact of methodology changes on manufacturing and inspection operations; assists the Senior Quality Manager in reporting adverse trends and recommending course corrections in relation to NDT and welding/brazing programs as part of the required Management Review process; writes Condition Found Reports (CFR) and Corrective Action Request (CAR) for resolution of all quality discrepancies found during surveillances, NDT inspections and audit performance; evaluates and monitors welding and NDT capabilities and inspections of subcontractors to ensure compliance with contractual requirements; d evelops, maintains and ensures compliance with the QMS and that the performance and quality of products and services conform to established standards, specifications and agency guidelines; works directly with the line operations to ensure that inspections, process control analyses and audits are conducted on a continuing basis as specified to enforce requirements and meet specifications; establishes and ensures that inspections are conducted and documented prior to the processing of materials and may serve as liaison between the company and the various government agencies.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 2 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years relevant progressive experience.
- Providing administrative oversight of an NDT and weld program and supervising inspections of production services.

- Various MS Office applications such as Office, Excel and PowerPoint (SharePoint and Project a plus)
- Technical drawings (read/interpret mechanical, electrical, piping, etc.)
- Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (COMUSFLTFORCOMINST 4790.3)
- Technical Work Documents (QA Workbooks, Controlled/Formal Work Packages)
- Relevant MIL-Standards and fabrication documents
- NAVSEA Standard Items
- Tech Spec 9090.310, Alteration Installation Team guidance
Preferred Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field such as Engineering, Business Admin, Math, etc. is a plus.
- Experience with SUBSAFE program a plus.
