JOB SUMMARY:
As Manager, Loading Dock Operations you play a crucial role in the daily building operations of the arena through overseeing the use of the Barclays Center subterranean loading dock with the highest attention to detail. From basketball games to concerts and family shows, the Manager, Loading Dock Operations will be responsible for supervising loading dock operations, mailroom operations and staff during events and non-event times. You will be responsible for coordinating all deliveries with food and beverage, vendors, tenants, etc. All vehicles entering and exiting the loading dock will be coordinated by this position. The ideal candidate must be organized, have proven experience in managing a busy loading dock operation in a multi-use facility. A demonstrated ability to use technology such as QTrak, Open Dock, Microsoft Word and Excel is required in creating and maintaining a schedule of deliveries. You will plan and implement associated work tasks as well as supervise the full and part-time staff to ensure proper completion.

- Eventful Overnights, Weekends and Holidays:
The role demands your presence during Barclays Center Events, load-ins and load-outs. Given the dynamic nature of this schedule, weekends and holidays become integral to the job. There are 200+ different events that come through the loading dock and this specific area is the first entry point for every event. The loading dock is an extremely stressful and high energy area where every aspect must be fully executed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: What You Will Do
- Oversee and coordinate the daily operations of all delivery and mailroom services within the arena.
- Supervise the Loading Dock Team during both event and non-event hours to ensure smooth operations.
- Manage, oversee, and coordinate the activities of personnel involved in the loading and unloading of trucks, as well as the movement and storage of materials or products.
- Establish, maintain, and rigorously enforce a daily delivery schedule to ensure efficient operations.
- Organize the arrival and departure of all trucks related to events, along with the arrangement of player parking as necessary.
- Act as the primary liaison for third-party vendors, including waste management, off-site storage, and equipment services/rentals, ensuring compliance with the terms outlined in various service agreements.
- Directly supervise, assess, and train the full-time Mailroom Coordinator.
- Recruit, train, and guide the Loading Dock Team on the proper procedures for the effective and efficient operation of a 24-hour facility.
- Plan, schedule, and implement preventative and repair maintenance for loading dock equipment, which includes six forklifts, two scissor lifts, snow removal equipment, dock levelers, roll doors, truck elevators, and turntables.
- Responsible for instructing, training, and certifying new employees in the safe and proper operation of forklifts and scissor lifts.
- Ensure that all employees maintain current certifications for forklift and scissor lift operation.
- Prepare and maintain necessary reports, records, and certifications for compliance with city codes and corporate management.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for all staff, tenants, and visitors within the facility.
- Develop standard operating procedures for the Arena Operations department.
- Assist the Director with budgeting and staffing strategies, including the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of departmental personnel and service providers.
- Prepare projected event cost estimates and analyses for specific events.
CANDIDATE PROFILE: Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Sport Management, Business, or Logistics/Supply Chain Management plus 2 years of progressively responsible positions and/or post baccalaureate experience in the job offered.
- Specific experience as it relates to an 18,000+ seat sports and entertainment multi-use facility; organizing and supervising operations for sporting and entertainment arena events.
- Must have a continuous drive and passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests, employees, tenants, and teams.
- Knowledge and previous experience working with NBA, NHL/AHL, NCAA (hockey and basketball), FELD Entertainment, AEG Live, Live Nation and other concert and family show promoters preferred.
- Experience in developing and managing financial budgets is preferred.
- Must be detail oriented, flexible, and able to work with enthusiasm and professionalism at all times, through a variety of circumstances, using good judgment.
- Must have a flexible schedule, with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary. The ability to demonstrate dependability and reliability by being punctual, working assigned and varying shifts and completing responsibilities in a timely manner are required.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check, employment check and a drug test prior to employment.
- Valid State Driver’s License required
- Active Fork and Aerial Lift Certification required
