Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated& Manager, Corporate Tax& to join our Finance team in Reno, Nevada. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing our company’s tax compliance and accounting functions, ensuring that all federal and state filings are completed accurately and on time. You will also manage tax accruals and support audits, contributing to the financial integrity of the organization. Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance
Oversee all federal and state tax compliance requirements, including timely and accurate filings.
Review tax computations and filings for accuracy, ensuring alignment with internal workpapers and external regulations.
Monitor relevant tax legislation and integrate new credits, rate changes, or other complex items into financial statements.
Tax Accounting Reporting
Manage the income and non-income tax accrual processes, including related support and reconciliations.
Ensure accurate and timely remittance of tax payments, with corresponding reconciliation of payables and receivables.
Maintain oversight of SOX 404 internal controls related to tax processes and reporting.
Audit Regulatory Management
Coordinate responses to IRS and other jurisdictional audits, ensuring positions are documented and accounted for appropriately.
Collaborate with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and analyses.
Remain current on evolving tax regulations and proactively update policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
Leadership Collaboration
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff, encouraging professional development and high performance.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Finance, Legal, etc.) to ensure seamless integration of tax strategies into overall business operations.
Communicate effectively with senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations on tax strategies and risk management.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of related tax experience, ideally within a corporate setting or public accounting environment.
Proven track record of handling complex tax issues, including federal and state compliance, accruals, and audits.
Strong knowledge of current tax laws and regulations, particularly as they relate to the Energy – Utilities sector.
Skills Competencies:
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex tax legislation.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
Proficiency with tax software and MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
