About the Job
The Controller's Office of the County of San Mateo is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Management Analyst in the Property Tax Division.
The Management Analyst will provide professional assistance in a wide variety of complex financial and analytical activities relating to property tax functions which includes completing special projects and managing performance and compliance initiatives.
This is a Departmental Promotional Only recruitment and is open only to current employees of the Controller’s Office with at least six months (1040 hours) of continuous service in a classified regular, probationary, extra-help/limited term positions prior to the final filing date may apply.
The Property Tax Division
The Property Tax Division of the County Controller's Office is responsible for computing property tax rates, distributing property taxes to local taxing agencies, and processing roll corrections.

The Property Tax Division
The Property Tax Division of the County Controller's Office is responsible for computing property tax rates, distributing property taxes to local taxing agencies, and processing roll corrections.
The Ideal Candidate will:
- Possess knowledge of relevant California laws relating to property tax administration, redevelopment agency dissolution, and school finance.
- Possess two-to-three years of working experience in County Controller's property tax administrative functions.
- Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Identify risks for the division and assist with setting goals and objectives to reduce those risks.
- Maintain a strong relationship with key partners to aid in property tax administration, including, County Assessor-Clerk-Recorder, Treasurer-Tax Collector, County Attorney, taxing agencies, and the State.
- Assist with the design of the property tax system.
- Possess the ability to examine processes and identify opportunities to streamline and improve them.
- Create a reputation of aptitude, cooperation, and innovation within the organization.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess the ability to analyze data and draw logical conclusions.
- Gather, organize, and present financial and technical data in written and verbal form.
- Read, analyze, interpret, and report on complex technical resources.
- Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner; organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines.
