MakeUseOf - Creative Tech Writer - Valnet Tech Sites

MakeUseOf.com is looking for Creative Tech writers who are technology enthusiasts!

MUO is one of the largest technology publications on the web today. We aim to equip all readers, whether they’re newcomers to tech or seasoned veterans, with the tools they need to make the most of their technology.

We simplify complex topics into guides that anyone can understand, whether they’re looking for a list of great apps, need help fixing an issue, or want a product recommendation. Every article leaves the reader with something valuable to take away.

Creative explores the intersection of technology and creativity through tools and trends like:

• Adobe apps
• Canva
• AI art and music
• Smartphone photography and photo editing
• Smartphone videography and video editing
• Design
• Writing tools
• Audio editing

We aim to connect with the average reader, writing articles that are approachable and engaging—even if someone knows nothing about these topics. MUO covers general-audience creative tools; we don't write in-depth guides targeting professional graphic designers, audio engineers, etc.

Responsibilities

• Write consistently and meet assigned deadlines.
• Pitch ideas and work with editors to refine them. While you also have the ability to claim ideas created by editors, we want our authors to primarily pitch from their own interests and expertise.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest tech news, products. and updates.
• Work within a CMS: adhere to style guidelines, finding and formatting images, adding links, etc.

Applicants must be highly motivated and possess the following attributes:

• Relevant experience in writing and editing
• A self-starting attitude: being willing to pitch and work on ideas without being prompted
• Knowledge across a variety of tech (updates to the latest versions first-hand use of products, platforms, and apps are required)
• Basic SEO knowledge is preferred, but clear writing and understanding our audience comes first
