Summary
Responsible for keeping the facility operating by performing routine and preventive maintenance as well as by repairing problems when they are discovered. Ensure all plant equipment and machinery are operating in optimum condition. The Maintenance Technician will be required to perform a wide range of repair and cleaning tasks throughout and around the facility and may be required to work alternate shift hours.
Responsibilities
- Conduct, behavior and actions in accordance with Oxco’s Valued Colleague Pledge and Oxco core values of Caring, Creativity, Determination, Dependability and Teamwork
- Identify and fix potential safety hazards to avoid injuries
- Conduct all maintenance actions taking into account Lockout/Tagout requirements and all other safety precautions, without exception
- Repair equipment problems in a timely manner when they are discovered
- Apply preventative measures to the machinery and equipment to reduce the risk of future problems. Work with Production Manager and Production Scheduler to schedule required downtime.
- Troubleshoot operational issues to determine and fix root causes. Identify and distinguish between mechanical, electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic and programing/PLC related issues.
- Help to coordinate proactive maintenance strategy for all production equipment, to include cost estimates and budget planning
- Communicate necessary information to the appropriate shift/department to ensure effective operations
- Maintain inventory of parts and supplies required for preventative maintenance measures on the machinery, equipment and building.
- Perform building maintenance and resolve electrical issues as they arise
- Perform some fabrication work, as needed, to address machine issues or continuous improvement opportunities and projects.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area (5S) and follow all safety guidelines. Maintain and improve shop cleanliness and organization. Help to clean machines and equipment in a clean and production ready state at all times.
- Work during alternate shift hours to support maintenance needs on other shifts, as needed
- Raise any issues or concerns that arise during day-to-day work to the Production Manager or Manufacturing Director
Qualifications
Education:
- A high school diploma or GED
Required Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in repairing and fixing machinery and equipment that is used in a manufacturing environment and/or the converting industry.
- Electrical – comfortable with industrial power circuits from 24 VDC to 480VAC, single and 3-phase power. wiring, motors, breakers, panels, machine controls, and read electrical drawings.
- Fabrication experience – hand tools, welding, basic machining, and carpentry.
- Interpersonal skills to interact with employees and managers in a pleasant manner
- Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked
- Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on the building
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance
Skills:
- Computer - proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Mathematical reasoning - perform mathematical and measurement conversions, knowledge of common units for spare parts
- Problem Solving – work independently and with others to resolve issues
- Collaboration – Work effectively with the manufacturing team and other personnel to achieve established outcomes
- Communication – Excellent verbal and written communication
- Multi-tasking – Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks within established deadlines
