JSG is seeking an immediate full time Maintenance & Safety Supervisor for our client in Pomona, CA.
Position Summary
The Maintenance & Safety Supervisor works under general supervision of the Plant Manager for all facilities management functions and coordinates all safety issues including Workers Compensation with the Human Resources Department.
The Maintenance & Safety Supervisor plans and schedules the work of the Maintenance Workers ensuring that the building and grounds are maintained and that repairs to both building and machines are completed as needed.
The Maintenance & Safety Supervisor coordinates and participates in the implementation of safety rules and regulations while fostering a safe and healthy work culture; coordinates monthly Safety Committee meetings and monitors the facility and its processes for adherence to OSHA guidelines and the elimination of industrial accidents. Essential Job Duties
Facilities Maintenance
- Supervise assigned staff including establishing and communicating performance expectations, provide positive and constructive feedback, conduct performance reviews and determine training and development needs and make hiring and terminating decisions while conforming to company policies and procedures
- Supervise and coordinate the maintenance and repair to the physical structures and utility systems including cleaning, painting, electrical wiring, heating, and plumbing; the repair and maintenance of equipment including forklifts; and the maintenance of the outside grounds
- Inspect completed work for conformance to standards
- Requisition tools, machinery, equipment and maintenance supplies as needed
- Obtain bids and direct contracted projects to ensure adherence to specifications from outside contractors
- Review workloads, schedules, personnel assignments and the status of ongoing work and projects
- Operate as first contact for all workplace injuries
- Investigate all incidents and maintain Workers Compensation incident logs
- Issue and record distributions of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Conduct daily walk through of plant monitoring compliance of safety rules while reporting infractions to the appropriate department manager and the Director of Human Resources
- Maintain the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)
- Present safety training materials and safety training videos to new hires at orientation
- Review, update and distribute lists of safety projects by department
- Inspect and document hazardous waste area findings weekly
- Participate in weekly 5Ss inspection with Plant Manager and post results
- Monitor and replenish inventory of PPE and first aid supplies
- Inspect fire extinguishers monthly and certify the correct pressure on the gauge
- Prepare and submit monthly injury trend data to Workers Compensation carrier
- Schedule monthly Department Manager safety meetings to discuss safety violations
- Update evacuation procedure, maps and team charts as needed and coordinate with Team Leads
- Develop, facilitate and foster a safety compliance reward system
- Coordinate quarterly fire sprinkler system inspection
- Collect and compile required data for OSHA log and post annually
- Coordinate annual Los Angeles County Fire Department inspections including CUPA, HazMat Generator Program, Fire Marshall inspection, and the Hazardous Material Division Inspection
- Coordinate annual backflow prevention assembly test by a certified plumber
- Coordinate annual fire sprinkler system test, inspection and certification as well as the fire alarm monitoring system annual test and inspection
- Process Cal-EPA verification questionnaire and manifest fees
- Assist in any security issues as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors degree in Business or a related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience preferred
- Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Basic knowledge of construction, plumbing, electrical, repairs, and painting required
- One year experience managing a safety program required
- Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook
- Must have ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus
- Self-motivated team player with the ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to adhere to ethical principles that reflect the highest standards of organizational and individual behavior and comply with all laws and regulations
- Possess effective organization and time management skills, be detail oriented, use good judgment, manage competing priorities for multiple projects and consistently meet all deadlines

- Valid California driver license and acceptable driver record required
