Maintenance Mechanic - Sonoco

Location: Richmond, VA Position: Maintenance Mechanic Pay: $30.15/hr with potential to increase additional $4.84/hour if completion of Pay-For-Skills. Sonoco in Richmond, VA is seeking an hourly Maintenance Mechanic. This location produces a finished paperboard from recycled paper material. While reporting to the Maintenance Excellence Coordinator, we expect you to have a proven record of quality workmanship, a strong work ethic and ability to work effectively with co-workers and management, and for the safe, efficient performance of all duties, and must be willing to complete all tasks assigned by management. What you will be doing: Maintain and troubleshoot issues with mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Precisely install couplings, bearings, pumps, rolls, motors, gearboxes and other mechanical equipment using state of the art alignment tools. Metal working including cutting and welding for fabricating. Hydraulics and fitting Preventative maintenance. Maintaining a safe, clean and organized work area. We'd love to hear from you if: You have a proven record of success in a fast-paced environment. Have excellent analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of process equipment used in a Paper Mill. Have extensive understanding of rigging. Able to work alternating weekends, some holidays, and available to answer call-ins on a rotating basis. Prefer you to have a 2-year Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field and/or have at least 3 - 5 years minimum work experience in Industrial Maintenance. You own your own tools.
