Responsibilities
Job Summary: The Maintenance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and controlling all maintenance and reliability related activities that support production, warehousing, quality, sanitation, building maintenance, and plant design and layout activities. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for building a maintenance reliability program by understanding resource allocation, cost, people leadership, and preventative maintenance model development. The individual selected will have proven abilities on Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and project management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manages the reliability workforce, develops succession plans, skills assessments and training.
- Directly manage 12 maintenance technicians, 3 leads, 1 planner, and 1 tool crib coordinator (17 total).
- Assures safe operation of ammonia refrigeration systems and equipment.
- Assures safe operation of boiler systems and equipment.
- Ensures compliance of air, water, sewage, or other form of pollutants per standards set by Federal, State, and Local governments.
- Supervise and direct maintenance staff on safe operations and enforce LOTO, Food Defense, Food Safety & Food Quality Plans, GMPs, HACCP Program.
- Coordinate the maintenance department’s use of the TPM root cause analysis tools to effectively identify the root causes of breakdowns and putting in preventative measures to keep those same breakdowns from happening again.
- Lead maintenance department in equipment trouble-shooting through root cause analysis on complex machinery and lead/develop maintenance technicians to own the process. Typical equipment includes processing (equipment for condensed and sweet condensed milk production), primary packaging (equipment includes seamers and filling equipment), and secondary packaging (equipment includes labelers, tray and case formers, case packers, palletizers, stretch wrappers and conveyors).
- Identify, track and report on all relevant maintenance department KPIs.
- Supervise and direct the planning and scheduling of all work through the auditing and management of the PM and Work order modules in the CMMS software program.
- Lead the deployment of the planning and scheduling workflow to a sustainable process with stakeholder support, driving increased performance in proactive work metrics.
- Lead methods and metrics to determine and increase the reliability of components, equipment and processes.
- Develops and controls the maintenance budget that provides for optimized spending to achieve the agreed-upon capacity and asset reliability.
- Support the operations with implementation in an accident and injury-free work environment through leadership by example, modeling safe behavior, and supporting established safety initiatives, including GMP and housekeeping practices.
- Ensure maintenance and reliability standards comply with applicable regulatory and Eagle quality standards. Ensure compliance with local, state and federal food safety guidelines, GMP’s and PMO requirements for facility.
- Continuously improve the operation by staying current with new technologies, consistent cost analysis, implementing sustainable best practices, identifying non-value-added elements and modeling continuous process improvement.
- Work under general direction of maintenance and engineering manager in performing detailed reliability studies and calculations of component/system reliabilities. Foster environment of zero downtime and quality holds through cross-training functionality with packaging and process operators regarding autonomous maintenance and equipment ownership.
- Consider impact of costs on recommended action plans for avoiding/correcting problems during the design phase or remedial action for correcting reliability problems on installed equipment; performs root cause failure analysis to help prevent failures.
- Prepare diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations and reports to define reliability problems and make recommendations for improvements.
- Provide expert support during the automation of processes and deployment of maintenance standards to assure compliance to regulatory and/or Eagle requirements and provide development/training.
- Plan and perform engineering research, design development, or manufacturing/process engineering assignments, including responsibility for major subsections of projects using general engineering practices influenced by the general theme of reliability principles.
- Develop and lead projects that drive profitable growth through implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) practices, operations reliability structure design, and project development, systems and processes.
- Develop and lead maintenance replacement capital project planning and execution.
- Maintains positive relations with all associates and ensures proper training is provided meet all technical and soft skills required of the associates.
- Ensures facility and equipment meets all OSHA and Local, State, and Federal Regulations.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field
- 10-14 years Operations Management including 3-5 years of Maintenance & Reliability Management
- 7-10 years of people management and procedures
- Demonstrated experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
- Strong Project Management skills
- Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Certification a plus
- Strong mechanical/electrical knowledge and aptitude.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
