Job Summary: Provides strategic planning and support to maintenance department team members, serving the internal customers' needs in ensuring equipment and machinery is in optimal condition. The maintenance manager will work closely with other department managers to ensure planning and execution of maintenance functions are carried out in a collaborative effort in the best interest of the company; ensuring customer impact is minimal. Develops and executes overall strategy in coordination with Operations Manager. Accountable for equipment and facility maintenance, employee safety, scheduling, staffing, controllable costs, and employee morale. The successful person in this position will be completely committed to the success of this 24/7 facility. They will leverage leadership, experience, patience, and resolve to improve the operation and the lives of its team members.
Essential Functions:
- Accountable for the safe work practices of team members and the safe condition of the facility.
- Accountable for the quality and food safety of the plant's output.
- Accountable for the overall morale of the Maintenance department's team members.
- Accountable for team member adherence to GMPs, good safety policies, and safety policies.
- Accountable for team member adherence to BOLI guidelines limiting allowable working hours.
- Responsible for creating and/or maintaining standard work, daily accountability, and the visual factory.
- Responsible for continuous improvement activities in the Department.
- Ensure that internal employee development training tracking mechanisms are aligned with the Employee Development Specialist.
- Responsible for creating development plans for department team members.
- Responsible for conducting performance reviews of department team members.
- Responsible for having a full understanding of appropriate maintenance functions.
- Accountable for condition of all equipment, building, and grounds associated with the facility.
- Responsible for adhering to the Code of Conduct.
- Capable of performing maintenance functions in the absence of technicians or with technicians.
- Troubleshoot and maintain processing equipment both mechanical and electrical.
- Inspect, recognize potential problems and take appropriate action to prevent component failure
- Monitor machinery to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to schedule and develop routine and preventative maintenance schedules, while exuding scheduling flexibility when equipment fails.
- Collaborate with other department managers to conduct maintenance repairs, ensuring there is little to no impact to the production of our product.
- Assist team leaders and machine operators in efficient line start up and equipment adjustments
- Perform building maintenance and repairs as needed
- Maintain documentation related to maintenance tasks.
- Maintain all Lockout Tagout procedures for all necessary equipment, including training of authorized users.
- Weld and fabricate machinery when necessary.
- Maintenance, repair, service or installation may include but not limited to:
- Irrigation pumps / motors
- Conveyor systems
- AC / DC controls
- Pneumatics
- Frequency control drives
- Hydraulic and electrical equipment
- Refrigeration / Freezer systems and controls
- Electronic controls
- Adhere to all company policies, GMPs, and SOPs
- Work safely and promote a safe work environment
- Bachelor's Degree (BS or BA) from four-year college or university, five or more years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Engineering highly preferred.
- Limited Maintenance Electrician License
- Bi-lingual in English/Spanish is a plus, but not necessary.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and to create procedures.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to solve abstract or strategic problems and deal with variables in situations where only limited information exists.
- Ability to make and justify timely decisions when the answer isn't readily apparent.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and some understanding of MRP.
- Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Worker may be exposed to a loud working environment.
- Worker may be exposed to hazards in the work place such as proximity to equipment conducting extreme heat, moving parts, and electrical current
- Must be able to work in environment containing allergens (nuts, milk, wheat, etc.)
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
- Occasionally required to use hands and fingers

- Frequently required to lift/push/pull/carry weight up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required for this job include: close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
