Position Summary: The Engineering Manager - Maintenance & Utilities will provide the technical expertise and support for the development, design implementation and maintenance of mechanical and production systems with a view toward improving production efficiency and plant reliability, reducing manufacturing costs and improving safety standards. Accountable for planning, coordination and implementation of effective asset care strategies at the most efficient cost. Perform all duties within the Company's safety, health & environmental regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Spearhead Computerized Maintenance Management System implementation.
Ensure systems, training, procedures and performance expectations comply with SHE policies and result in zero harm to employees, contractors and the environment.
Ensure repairs and maintenance costs are controlled to budget. Develop cost reduction initiatives focused on project execution, maintenance excellence tools and predictive and preventive techniques.
Responsible for developing effective asset care strategies (predictive and preventive) and providing for efficient repair of all plant equipment and facilities, such that downtimes are at or below agreed standards.
Ensure competent and efficient manpower management.
Ensure effective storeroom and spare parts management.
Manage effective turnaround strategies to minimize plant outages and lower costs. Look for opportunities to work in conjunction with operations to minimize unscheduled outages.
Develop and implement a 3-year Capital Plan in conjunction with site departments. All projects are to be on time, within budget and delivering the agreed scope.
Ensure design and construction of new plants and equipment is in compliance with government and industry standards for safety and environmental issues.
Develop and maintain contacts with various government and other external third-party agencies required to obtain relevant permits and appropriate annual inspections.
Ensure that project standards and procedures are developed and maintained, including the required Hazard Studies.
Participate and drive site wide initiatives for employee performance improvement, culture survey actions and safety improvement.
Participate in site senior staff meetings and corporate/multi-site initiatives as necessary.
Non-Essential Duties:
Lead sustainability impact assessments for projects
Provides guidance to other engineers within the organization
PE in Chemical, Mechanical, or Controls Systems Engineering a plus.
PMP certification or former certification a plus
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position directs all facilities, maintenance, and reliability objectives for the site.
Education and Experience:
B.S. degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with 5 -10 years of relevant industry experience.
Previous management experience.
Previous experience with a CMMS
Previous experience with SAP Maintenance Module
Skills and Abilities:
Competent in core engineering disciplines
Works effectively in a team environment
Ability to prioritize workload with competing priorities
Expertise with any of the following: process equipment, filling or packaging equipment, cleaning validation planning and execution, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), chemical process engineering and pharmaceutical process development
Working knowledge of FDA regulations, NFPA regulations, and OSHA regulations
Experience in collecting, analyzing, and presenting data and recommendations to management
Demonstrated technical/analytical skills and attention to detail
Required to document processes followed to ensure repeatability and verify accuracy of conclusions
Ability to interface with all levels in the organization, including manufacturing or lab personnel and senior management
Ability to drive teams and suppliers to complete commitments and projects in a timely manner
Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Excel required: pivot tables and graphs; expertise with word-processing and presentation software with proficiency in PowerPoint to create and edit presentations
Exceptional presentation and facilitation skills
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, trending, and factor analysis
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, give oral instructions; listen and hear instructions, customer and/or employee responses, etc. The position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling and stooping all day.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds.
Work Environment: This job operates in a pilot plant and laboratory setting.This job operates in a construction environment. This job may require work around organic solvents and caustic materials. Ability to walk sit or stand for a minimum of 8 hours.May be required to move throughout production areas on uneven surfaces, climb ladders and/or stairs and be exposed to outside weather conditions for extended periods.
