Machining Tech V, Heading (2nd Shift) - Howmet

Responsibilities

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Machining Tech V, Header in our Carson location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we're the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.

Skills/Knowledge:

1. Production of parts meeting drawing and specification requirements in a safe manner.
2. Set-up and operation of equipment, as assigned. Advanced knowledge and experience with various levels of dies and tooling.
3. Perform statistical process control measurements and calculations. Complete forms or computer entries as required.
4. Order and maintain inventory levels of required tooling, gages and supplies.
5. Participate in assuring team tooling and material readiness. (Assemble tooling set-up kits, stage raw materials and perform external setup tasks, as required)
6. Perform machine inspections including daily, weekly and monthly preventative maintenance tasks.
7. Perform shop floor housekeeping duties.
8. Prepare daily production reports and forms.
9. Perform other tasks as needed in support of production team and team leader.
10. Work in a safe manner that promotes the health and well-being of the individual and the environment.
11. Tactful in working in a team environment. Able to recommend process improvements and verify defects.
12. Able to provide guidance and can train other operators if needed.

Qualifications

1. 10 years' experience machinery operator of precision metal forming experience in aerospace manufacturing.
2. Ability to set-up and operate multiple equipment types (i.e. pin heading, sleeve heading, pin rolling, band annealing, drilling and/or assembly).
3. Ability to read and interpret product prints.
4. Ability to use inspection gages and instruments.

Benefits/Salary:

The position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), excellent 401k matching program, paid holidays and vacation. The salary range for this position is $27.00 to $36.00 per hour.
