We are looking for an experienced Machinist to join our Machine Shop in Connecticut.
As a SPIROL Machinist, you will spend your days:
- Reading 2D prints and drawings.
- Setting up and operating machine shop equipment in your assigned work group. : mills (Bridgeport, Hurco, Mazak), grinders, CNC lathe, wire EDM, band saw, drill press, sand blaster, brake, heat treat oven.
- Producing parts per print specifications from all types of materials to within the established time standards.
- Working with Design Engineers to machine parts for research and development projects.
- Performing continual inspections on all parts during the manufacturing process to ensure quality.
- Working from verbal instructions or sketches when required.
- Accurately using measuring equipment such as scales, calipers, beveled protractors, micrometers, dial indicators, and comparators to inspect work and ensure no defective parts.
- Maintaining your area clean and organized.
- Promoting continuous improvement by taking the initiative to identify issues and provide solutions with the goal of reducing cost and improving performance.
A successful SPIROL Machinist:
- Is knowledgeable of machining processes, tool selection, and equipment settings to ensure quality and optimal manufacturing times.
- Is proficient in close tolerance machining.
- Has attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
- Has the ability to manage their own time.
- Exhibits a 'go-getter' mentality.
- Has a natural understanding of how things work and interact (common sense).
- Is a subject matter expert that takes ownership within their area of specialization
- Consistently completes the layout, set-up and machining of parts to within the specified tolerance and time standards.
- Must be able to work from a print, sketch or verbal instructions.
- Vigilant in their effort to eliminate rework and scrap.
- Seeks continuous improvement opportunities.
- Maintains their area clean and organized.
- Desires to expand their skill level to multiple work groups
Recommended Qualifications:
- Machining program graduate
- All experience levels will be considered.
- Capable of setting up and operating a lathe to produce turned products to within 0.002".
- Capable of setting up and operating a mill to produce milled products to within 0.005".
- Capable of setting up and operating a surface grinder to produce ground products to within 0.0005".
- Capable of reading individual and assembly drawings.
- Ability to use all types of precision measuring equipment including:
- Micrometers
- Calipers
- Feeler Gages
- Indicators
