Job Description Summary
The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences is seeking a candidate to fill their Therapist position. This position is for a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who will be working in a team environment in the Outpatient Clinic of the Child and Adolescent Division of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Services at the Medical University of South Carolina. The position will likely be split between time at MUSC in Charleston at 67 President Street, Charleston and Pediatrics Northwoods at 2070 Northbrook Blvd, North Charleston. The Candidate will operate independently but part of an overall service team comprised of MDs, residents/fellows, and other social workers.Entity

Job Description
Entity/Organization: MUSC Physicians Primary Care (MUSCP)
Hours per week: 40
Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Hours TBD Upon Hire
Pay Basis/FLSA: Salary/Exempt
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides direct care to patients through the following activities:
- Will provide individual and group therapy to individuals and their families. Specific responsibilities include:
- Interviewing clients and or families
- Developing and discussing proposed treatment plans with the client and detailing the recommendations and the reasoning for them
- Monitoring and documenting the progress of clients and making service treatment plan adjustments as necessary
- Takes comprehensive history and performs mental status examinations
Education:
- Licensed Social Worker (LISW): Master's Degree in Social Work or Social Welfare program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education required.
- Licensed Professional Counselor: Master's Degree in Counseling for LPC from an accredited program.
- Licensed Marriage Family Therapist: Meet educational requirements for licensure in South Carolina
Preferred Experience and Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling from an accredited program. Hospital experience in the area of Psychiatry is preferred.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:
- Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Marriage Family Therapist: licensure by the applicable South Carolina Board required.
Degree of Supervision: Limited supervision but operates within a clinical team, which includes supervision by a clinical director (MD or PhD).
Additional Job Description
Education: Bachelors Degree or equivalent
Work Experience: 4-6 years
State licensure and/or professional certification requirement/s dependent on position.
