Logistics Manager, U.S. & Canada
Austin Powder is seeking an energetic and proven Logistics Manager. This role requires the safe and efficient movement, storage, and distribution of goods from suppliers to customers within the U.S. and Canada. They are responsible for organizing and implementing procedures to ensure that products are shipped safely, efficiently, and on time. This role requires a deep understanding of supply chain management, including inventory control, procurement, and financial management. This role is responsible for overseeing the entire logistics process, from order placement to delivery, and ensures that it is compliant with relevant DOT and ATF regulations.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage and coordinate all logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution activities.
- Accountable for all logistics procurement ($50M annual spend).
- Manage internal fleet operations (~50 trucks).
- Develop and implement logistical plans and procedures to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and other relevant laws governing transportation and logistics operations.
- Oversee the hiring, training, and performance evaluation of logistics staff, including drivers and warehouse personnel.
- Monitor and analyze transportation costs and performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
- Lead a distribution/warehouse network optimization study and implement.
- Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and other external partners to ensure timely delivery of goods and materials.
- Implement safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all logistics personnel.
- Implement continuous improvement program.
- Implement freight bill, payment and audit program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field strongly preferred. 15+ years of commensurate experience.
- Experienced across most bulk and package logistics operations (rail, truck, fleet, milk-runs, 3PLs, warehousing).
- Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role is required.

- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage a diverse team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on optimizing processes and reducing costs.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures related to transportation and logistics operations.
- The successful candidate must bring high level of ethical, intellectual, professional and personal values that complement the team. Ability to fit and excel within the company culture - honest, hard-working, and operates in the best interest of the company at all times (no politics).
- Proven experience negotiating contacts.
- Ability to work collaboratively across the organization.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Reporting Relationships
- This role will report directly to the Executive Director Supply Chain. This role has no direct reports.
Work Environment
- This position requires the willingness to travel 25+%. Ability to travel at times on short notice and occasionally internationally.
- This is currently a hybrid role that requires 3 days of work in the office: Monday through Wednesday and 2 days of working from home. Schedules will need to be flexible to accommodate the needs of the business. They hybrid status is subject to change.
