What You'll Be Doing

The Grant Writer is responsible for the research, development, writing, submission, tracking and administration of all grant applications for the health system.

• Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit and manage grant proposals to federal, state, foundation, etc. sources
• Develop an understanding of the health system’s history, service lines, and programs
• Conduct needs assessment, statistical analysis and background research related to grant proposals and submittals
• Research grants programs and plans
• Work with departments within the health system to gather information necessary to prepare applications to federal, state, foundation, etc. sponsors
• Furnish prospective funders with supporting documents
• Maintain current records pertaining to status of where prepared grants stand
• Participate in the development of strategies for establishing partnerships at the local, state, and national level in order to advance the mission and goals of the health system
• Network with representatives from the public and private sectors
• Perform any and all other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing or other related field required
• At least 3+ years’ of professional grant writing and RFP experience in a nonprofit setting, including health and human services, workforce development, and mental health counseling/addiction treatment service
• Grant Professional Certification a plus
• Ability to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, research capability, and knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Word
• Experience in successful management of multiple concurrent projects to meet deadlines
• Strong organizational skills, ability to work in a complex fast-paced and high-profile environment with short deadlines, competing priorities and intense pressure to perform
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, exercising a high degree of initiative
