Bellwood Developmental Center is looking for Life Skills / Developmental Training Instructors to join our mission in providing caring support and life skills development to the individuals we serve. It is life changing work as we strive to be a leader in quality services.
Life Skills / Developmental Training Instructors give support and oversight to staff in the day program setting serving adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and provide direct support and life skills training to individuals served. You will act as a member of an interdisciplinary team that is key in planning the services and activities for our individuals. Must have Bachelor's Degree in a social service field and at least one year of experience working with individuals who have intellectual/developmental disabilities, meet Healthcare Worker Background Check and have a valid driver's license.
In this position as a Life Skills / Training Instructor you will:

Position Requirements:
- Desire to make a positive difference in people's lives.
- Be a team player in a collaborative environment
- At least a Bachelor's degree in a human services related area (such as Psychology, Sociology, Education and related areas) and one year experience working with adults with intellectual/develpmental disabilites.
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Be available full or part time during program days/hours (M-F, 8a-4p)
- Meet the screening requirements for the Healthcare Worker background check
- Work requires frequent physical activity including extended periods of standing, walking, and bending with occasional periods of sitting, kneeling, climbing, stooping, crouching, squatting and balancing.
- Work also requires constant reaching between knee and shoulder level as well as frequent reaching below knee level and overhead.
- Work requires occasional independent lifting up to 25 pounds, frequent push/pull up to 40 pounds of force and the ability to safely transfer 50 pounds.
- Work requires direct care including toileting and feeding individuals with disabilities.
