Salary: $32-33/hour
Location: Fall River, Massachusetts, 02720, United States
Key responsibilities of the Optician may include:
Patient interaction: Greeting patients, understanding their vision needs, and taking detailed measurements to determine the best frame and lens combination.
Frame selection: Guiding patients through frame selection based on their facial features, style preferences, and prescription requirements.
Lens selection: Explaining different lens options like progressive lenses, high index lenses, coatings, and UV protection to best suit the patient's needs.
Prescription interpretation: Accurately interpreting eye prescriptions provided by ophthalmologists or optometrists.
Fitting and adjustments: Precisely fitting frames to the patient's face and making necessary adjustments to ensure comfort and proper vision correction.
Contact lens fitting: Assisting patients with contact lens selection, fitting, and proper care instructions
Order processing: Creating and submitting accurate lens orders to the optical lab with all necessary details
Insurance verification: Checking patient insurance benefits and processing claims for eyewear purchases
Inventory management: Maintaining an organized inventory of frames and lenses, tracking stock levels and ordering new products as needed
Customer service: Addressing patient concerns, providing aftercare support, and maintaining a positive patient experience
Required qualifications for the Optician:
Valid Optician License: Must hold a current license to practice as an optician in the state of employment.
Technical knowledge: Thorough understanding of different lens types, frame materials, and optical measurements.
Customer service skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients
Attention to detail: High level of accuracy when taking measurements and processing orders
Computer proficiency: Ability to use practice management software to access patient records and process orders
