The Legal Secretary provides critical administrative and organizational support to attorneys in family and matrimonial law practice. This role provides secretarial duties with office management tasks, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the attorneys. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal processes related to family law, be highly organized, and possess excellent communication skills.
Compensation:$45,000 - $55,000
Responsibilities:Legal Secretary Duties:
- Maintain and organize client files, both in hard copy and electronically.
- Schedule client meetings, court hearings, and mediations; maintain attorney calendars.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- File legal documents with courts (both in person and electronically) and serve as a point of contact for court personnel.
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel via phone, email, and letters.
- Assist in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and witness lists.
- Proven experience as a legal secretary, preferably in family and matrimonial law.
- Strong knowledge of family law processes, court procedures, and legal terminology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal case management software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with professionalism.
- Possess a driver's license in good standing.
