Respected International Litigation law firm, with offices in Downtown Miami, seeks to hire a Litigation Legal Assistant due to growth. This positon is 100% in office.
The role is considered to be a combination legal assistant/paralegal.
**Responsibilities:**
- Open new matters following the established File Opening Procedure.
- Calendar deadlines accurately, both in federal and state court, including the complex business litigation section of the Miami-Dade Circuit Court for the Eleventh Circuit, or events as necessary.
- Confirm calendared items the day before the event or with sufficient time in advance.
- Maintain files efficiently.
- Prepare binders for hearings.
- Assist in pulling case law from Westlaw (not research).
- Coordinate court reporters for hearings.
- Gather all necessary materials in preparation for hearings.
- File documents in court and serve opposing parties, following appropriate court filing procedures.
- Proficient with Timeslips, Worldox, Office 365 CourtMap, e-file, and cmecf.
- Schedule depositions, mediations, and other important dates.
- Prepare airway bills for courier mailings as required (DHL, FedEx, etc.).
- Answer telephones promptly and professionally.
- Work collaboratively with other legal assistants to handle rush or emergency tasks.
- Ensure all pending emergency items are addressed by the end of the day, offering assistance to colleagues as needed.
- Assist attorneys with travel arrangements (itineraries, air tickets, hotel, and vehicle reservations, etc.).
- Maintain the Firm calendar by scheduling trips or absences.
**Qualities:**
- Punctual and reliable.
- Proactive; take initiative without waiting for instructions.
- Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to tackle tasks.
- Ability to meet deadlines consistently without excuses.
- Familiarity with federal and state court rules, including those of the complex business litigation section of the Miami-Dade Circuit Court for the Eleventh Circuit.
**Note: This is an in-office position; no remote work available.**
