We are a fast-paced litigation firm seeking a highly organized and motivated Paralegal/Legal Assistant to support our attorneys in both litigation and administrative tasks. This hybrid position requires someone who is comfortable with a wide range of responsibilities and thrives in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of litigation processes, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills.
Responsibilities and Duties:
As a Paralegal/Legal Assistant, you will assist with various aspects of litigation support, as well as provide essential administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the office. Your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Litigation Support:
- Preparing and filing legal documents in state and federal courts.
- Assisting attorneys with trial preparations, including document management and logistics.
- Cite checking, proofreading, and formatting legal pleadings to ensure accuracy and compliance with court rules.
- Preparing Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities for pleadings.
- Drafting and preparing discovery requests and responses.
- Drafting correspondence, legal forms, and memoranda.
- Organizing and managing case files, exhibits, and document productions.
- Maintaining and updating case calendars to ensure all deadlines are met.
Administrative Support:
- Answering phones and directing calls to appropriate personnel.
- Maintaining office organization, filing systems, and records.
- Interacting with clients, co-counsel, and other stakeholders in a professional manner.
- Managing administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings and handling general office inquiries.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably in litigation.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and document management systems.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal case management software.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with state and federal court filings.
- Familiarity with discovery tools and document production platforms.
- Paralegal certification (e.g., NALA or NFPA) is a plus.
