As the newest addition to our team, the Legal Assistant will play a pivotal role in keeping the office functioning efficiently, from coordinating meetings to maintaining complete and accurate files.
This person will build collaborative working relationships with our lawyers, team members, and earn the trust of our clients. The ideal candidate is organized, diligent, and can work both independently and as part of a team. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attention to detail with the ability to manage large amounts of data.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Conducting research, data entry, and client communications
- Answer phones, return messages, manage deadlines.
- Type and file basic legal documents and correspondence
- Preparing and filing documents with courts
- Organizing and archiving documents related to completed and ongoing cases including exhibits, documents, briefs, and appendices.
- Aid attorneys with interrogatories, requests for production, and other discovery requests
- Assist in trial preparation by preparing binders, indexing discovery, and preparing trial exhibits.
- Represent the organization with professionalism and integrity when dealing with clients and court officials.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of organizational and client information.
- Aid various departments based on business need, including Negotiations and Closing departments.
- 1-2 years relevant experience
- Legal Assistant/Paralegal experience (Required)
- Prior working experience managing client cases, administrative assistant work.
- Proficient in use of computers, internet, social media, and relevant software applications, including Microsoft Office
- Word-processing ability of 50–80 words per minute with high degree of accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have experience in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Attention to detail and highly organized (i.e., able to prioritize and complete work by deadlines)
- Must be able to take initiative on items.
- Associates/bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate from an accredited institution
