Job Details
A nationally recognized law firm specializing in business and construction litigation, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join their Fort Myers, FL office.
The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive administrative and litigation support to attorneys specializing in complex business and construction disputes.
This role requires excellent organizational skills, multitasking ability, and familiarity with legal procedures in Florida.

- Case Management:
- Assist attorneys in managing business and construction litigation case files from inception to resolution.
- Maintain and organize case files, pleadings, and discovery documents both electronically and physically.
- Monitor case schedules and deadlines, ensuring all required filings and submissions are completed promptly.
- Document Preparation:
- Draft, proofread, and finalize correspondence, pleadings, discovery requests, subpoenas, and other legal documents.
- File documents with state and federal courts, including e-filing through court systems such as CM/ECF.
- Client Communication:
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates on case status and scheduling meetings or depositions.
- Assist in gathering and organizing client information, exhibits, and other required materials.
- Administrative Support:
- Coordinate meetings, depositions, mediations, and court appearances.
- Prepare and manage attorney calendars, ensuring efficient time management and avoidance of scheduling conflicts.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, emails, and faxes related to assigned cases.
- Research and Discovery:
- Assist in compiling and organizing discovery responses and conducting basic legal research as needed.
- Coordinate with expert witnesses, vendors, and other third parties regarding depositions, document production, and trial preparation.
- Trial Preparation:
- Assemble and maintain trial binders, exhibits, and courtroom materials.
- Arrange travel accommodations and support attorneys during trial proceedings as necessary.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in litigation, preferably in business and/or construction law.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, legal case management software, and e-filing systems.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and Florida court systems.
- Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or Legal Assistant certification.
- Familiarity with construction law and business litigation practices in Florida.
- Experience supporting multiple attorneys.
