Position Summary | PLEASE NOTE: This positionis for the UNM Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 mileswest of Albuquerque, NM. The University of New Mexico-Gallup invites applicationsfor a Lecturer I in Dental Assisting. We are one of four branch communitycolleges of the University of New Mexico and serve approximately 2200students. Located in Gallup NM,approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, UNM-Gallup is situated in the FourCorners region and near the Navajo Nation, Zuni Pueblo and HopiReservation. The city of Gallup has apopulation of 22,000 and the surrounding areas provide an abundance of outdoorrecreational activities, various museums and extraordinary cultural vibrancy,while maintaining a small-town feel. UNM-Gallup serves a hugely diverse student populationwith 100+ full time and part-time faculty members. We are fully accredited by the HigherLearning Commission offering Associate degrees, selected Bachelor’s degrees,Career Technical Education certificate programs, and adult basic education(ABE/GED), workforce training and personal enrichment courses. UNM-Gallup serves multiple high schoolpopulations including McKinley Academy, Middle College High School and theCenter for Career and Technical Education. It is an exciting time to join our faculty as we areexpanding our programs, engaging with our community, establishing multipleendowments and grant opportunities while hiring a substantial cohort of newfaculty. Assistant Professors at UNM-Ghave career advancement opportunities that are outlined in the UNM FacultyHandbook and faculty union collective bargaining agreement. The successful candidate will be expected to teach 27semester hours per academic year in the area of Dental Assisting, maintain anactive service record (as defined by the UA-UNM CBA), participate in monthlyDivision meetings and execute other relevant duties as agreed upon inconjunction with the division chair in an annual faculty-chair agreement. In addition, the selected candidate will beexpected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusionthrough actively practicing inclusive behavior and proactively managing bias. |
