Job DescriptionESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Lead and coordinate tool room production activities, ensuring quality and productivity standards are met.
- Adhere to and promote OSHA, MIOSHA, and company safety practices, including machinery maintenance and safe operation.
- Manufacture items to specifications using precision measuring equipment, and resolve manufacturing problems in collaboration with supervisors and engineering personnel.
- Provide training, mentorship, and support to team members and apprentices, including analyzing and resolving work-related issues.
- Develop part specifications, create sketches, and review feasibility of rebuilding/retrofitting older Bekum machines with Service and Engineering departments.
- Perform preventative maintenance, ensure good housekeeping, and operate power equipment and material handling equipment as needed.
- Coordinate with the director of manufacturing on departmental schedules, manpower requirements, and delivery dates.
- Maintain personal hand tools necessary for effective task performance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or relevant technical certification preferred
- Minimum five years of machining experience in an industrial environment
- Ability to machine all equipment independently with minimal supervision, including prototypes
- Meet all requirements for Machinist III as per Bekum job description
- Leadership experience or training preferred
- Working knowledge of metals, plastics, pneumatics, and hydraulics
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Infor21) and personal computer software (word processing, spreadsheets)
- Ability to speak and understand English; knowledge of German technical terms beneficial
- Willingness to travel as required
