Position: Children's Mental Health Specialist
Location: Pittsburg, CA
Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00am - 2:30pm (32.5 paid hours/week)
Compensation: $21 per hour + plus great benefits!

The Children's Mental Health Specialist works with children aged 18 months to 6 years old with developmental delays, behavioral and/or emotional challenges, as well as those who may be on the autism spectrum.
Our behavioral health programs provide a well structured environment and activities that are designed to meet the developmental and behavioral goals and needs of each child. Using the therapeutic techniques of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), activities will be focused in the areas of speech/language development, cognitive development, fine and gross motor development, self-help skills, sensory integration, and social development.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts classes for children in accordance with the instructional design and philosophy of the program.
- Supports children with all areas of their development (speech, cognitive, fine/gross motor skills, self-help, social skills etc...).
- Evaluates each child in class and in all program activities; also prepares IPP for each child.
- Plans and implements daily activities, including class, music and lunch.
- Participates in parent and staff meetings.
- Maintains close contact with parents and/or caregivers.
- Attends required agency trainings, both on and off site
- Supervises the work of the Children's Mental Health Assistant.
Requirements:
- California Driver's license and good driving record
- Associate's Degree or Higher in Child Development or related field
- Education must include at least 12 Early Childhood Education units
- Previous experience working in a mental health setting preferred
- Knowledge of how abuse and trauma affect young children, as well as the ability to not personalize a child’s behaviors
- Demonstrated leadership and teambuilding abilities
- Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing, in Professional English.
