Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team for the PM shift (2pm - 10pm). The Lead CNA will assist the Director of Nursing Services in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, regulations, and facility policies. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Lead CNA will provide direct care to residents, ensuring the highest level of quality care at all times.
Qualifications:
- Current CNA Certification in good standing.
- Current CPR Certificate or ability to obtain certification within two weeks of employment.
- Demonstrated interest or knowledge in therapy, rehabilitation, restorative, ADL, splint, and ROM programs.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English in a clear and understandable manner.
- Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with residents, family members, visitors, staff, and outside agencies.
- Leadership and supervisory abilities with a willingness to foster a harmonious working environment.
- Personable, enthusiastic, and resourceful.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Capacity to manage mental and emotional stress related to the position.
- Must possess sight and hearing, or use prosthetics, to meet the demands of the position.
- Ability to function independently and with integrity in a healthcare setting.
- Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals who may be ill, disabled, elderly, or emotionally upset.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, and residents weighing over 50 pounds.
- Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions, including HIV and Hepatitis B.
Essential Functions:
- Review and recommend updates to the department’s Policy & Procedure Manual, job descriptions, and cleaning schedules.
- Collaborate with CNAs to ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures, including dress code.
- Assist in developing care plans for each resident, identifying their needs and goals.
- Participate in customer care plan conferences as necessary.
- Address and resolve concerns or complaints from residents or their families.
- Meet regularly with CNAs to identify problem areas and improve service quality.
- Assist in recruitment, conduct preliminary interviews, and make recommendations for hiring.
- Mentor and coach CNAs to ensure success in their roles; provide feedback to clinical leadership on performance.
- Monitor CNA performance through daily rounds and ensure appropriate procedures are being followed.
- Create and maintain a warm, positive, and calm environment for residents and staff.
- Assist in the orientation of new CNAs and ensure effective in-service education programs are conducted.
- Monitor supply and equipment needs, assisting with ordering and distribution.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure continuity of care for residents.
- Ensure all personnel are familiar with care plans and that care plans are utilized in daily care.
- Attend departmental meetings and contribute to ongoing quality improvement efforts.
- Ensure compliance with Point of Care (POC) documentation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
