Lead Accountant - Express Scripts - Hybrid - The Cigna Group

About the Job
The Lead Accountant is primarily responsible for completing activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger for rebates including journal entries and reconciliations. This position will work with team members as well as other departments to research and resolve issues, perform in depth rebate analysis, assist with critical projects by weighing in on key requirements, lead audit requests and manage other adhoc assignments as well as advise team members on day to day tasks and requests.
This position will be responsible for presenting to various key business partners and senior leadership as well as preparing variance analysis and meeting materials. This individual will also be working closely with their leader to support companywide rebate initiatives and other projects as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Support key Enterprise initiatives and projects
+ Lead monthly close meetings with key business partners to gain alignment
+ Evaluate areas for process improvements and provide leadership with recommendations
+ Journal entries and month end responsibilities.
+ Prepare and analyze monthly financial accruals for receivables and payables
+ Roll forwards and reconciliations for Manufacturer Receivables, Rebates Payable and other assigned balance sheet accounts.
+ Support SOX compliance and external/internal audit processes
+ In depth internal rebate system knowledge to support key projects
QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent work experience.
+ PC skills, Microsoft Office programs, Strong Excel skills with the ability to easily learn new software.
+ 5+ years of accounting and/or finance.
+ Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
+ Demonstrated proficiency in accounting processes, procedures, and controls.
+ Experience in general ledger account analysis/reconciliation.
+ Self-starter and team player.
+ Experience working with cross functional departments to research and resolve issues.
+ Good problem solving and analytical skills.
+ Detail oriented.
+ Strong understanding of business operations and processes.
+ Demonstrate initiative with commitment and ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to balance high-priority, long-term projects with short-term, immediate deadlines and ability to multi-task.
+ Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate departmental and project deadlines.
