Job Overview:
Seeking a skilled Landscape/Construction Project Manager to join our team. In this role, you will oversee the construction of our new ground-up landscape projects, new pool construction, hardscape projects, irrigation projects and other various landscape projects. From the initial planning stages to the final stages of construction and beyond, you will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of projects. We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized individual who can read and interpret construction plans, work independently and as part of a team, and effectively manage multiple tasks.
Essential Job Functions
The following represent the primary roles and responsibilities performed by a Project Manager; these include but are not limited to:
- Manage the overall financial performance of the project.
- Handle client relationships and many forms of daily communication.
- Participate in the job hand-off process from the Sales Team to the Project Management Team.
- Coordinate the job start process to identify ways to save costs, analyze job specifics and maximize gross margin.
- Manage RFI’s, submittals, material requests, project documentation, schedules, close-out documentation, project archives, etc.
- Proactively identify and manage bid discrepancies.
- Purchasing material, manage material buyouts at or below budget.
- Collaborate daily with Foreman and Office Staff.
- Visit job sites (as needed) to manage projects in a dynamic setting.
- Work with Foreman and participate in walk-throughs with Municipalities, HOAs, Homebuilders, Land Developers, General Contractors, and Owners.
- Negotiate subcontractor work favorably, from contract documentation through invoicing.
- Actively sell and handle Change Orders and manage the Change Order process per client and contract requirements.
- Along with Foreman, manage the weekly update of revenue on projections with detailed accuracy.
- Participate in weekly Operations Meeting and attend bi-weekly Foreman meeting
- Manage labor, turnover process, and maintenance walk-throughs.
- Responsible for the auditing and submission of monthly billings. Able to accurately forecast material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs
- Teach, train and mentor new Project Foreman/ Estimators.

This is a fast-paced position demanding active collaboration with field supervision, purchasing, estimating, sales, divisional company leadership, and accounting staff.

- Understanding job budgets and scheduling.
- Robust organizational skills with the capability to handle multiple & mono tasks for projects.
- Familiarity with PC and Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Word, OST.
- Emotional intelligence - the ability to collaborate, get along and build strong relationships with both clients as well as coworkers.
- Comfortable working with clients and project managers.
- Adherence to and promotion of Meier Brothers company doctrine, values, and mission statement.
- Real world, extensive experience in landscape project management
- Ability to solve problems quickly and completely.
- Solid understanding of the principles of Meier Brothers operational vision and division goals.
- Spanish speaking is helpful.
Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications
- The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree or has equivalent experience in the fields of horticulture, landscape architecture, construction management or a similar course of study.
- 5 + years’ experience actively assisting in contractual, purchasing, staging, and customer relations for large landscape projects.
- Knowledge in the areas of irrigation systems, hardscape, erosion control, and California plant identification.
- Familiar On Screen take off, Excel, Word, PowerPoint/Keynote and Firefox/Safari search engines. Advanced proficiency in PC or adapted software preferred.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
- Ability and willingness to travel to client events, job sites and other divisions as required.
Key Performance Indicators
- Revenue on target – 15% variance.
- Preconstruction Job Start process within 90 days of turnover.
- RFI turn around – within 48 hours.
- Billed Revenue within 10% of 1st month’s estimate.
- Warranty 0.005% of total revenue.
- Billings accuracy.
- Unauthorized change orders = $8K / month.
- Preconstruction margin goal – 95% accurate Budget vs Actual at Job Close Out.
- Client retention/satisfaction - Survey Scores min 95% satisfaction.
- Preconstruction meetings - 2% increase in margin at job closing.
- Change order goal15% of revenue.
- Jobsite visits - 3 /per month (minimum all projects).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
