Lake Regional Health System is actively seeking a Hospital Laboratory Assistant Manager to join our team.
Job Overview:
The Assistant Laboratory Manager is responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, and maintaining the daily workflow of laboratory testing to ensure continuity of care with quality results. Demonstrates skills and knowledge in the management of all areas of the laboratory. Must be able to work independently and in a team environment in all areas. The Manager will assume all responsibilities of the service line, 24-hours a day, and 7-days a week in the Directors absence. The Manager will help manage and maintain shift assignments, precept new employees, provide education to staff and ancillary departments.
- Demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of the need for customer satisfaction, promotes, and provides patient-focused services, and is responsive to the needs of all customers.
- Engages in creating and maintaining a positive, ethical and productive department and workplace that contributes to achieving progress on LRHS culture and strategic goals and initiatives.
- Assists with day-to-day operations of the lab functions and duties.
- Assists with performing administrative, leadership, and managerial duties professionally, effectively, and in a timely manner to ensure cost-efficient and safe operation of the service provided while complying with all employment laws and regulatory agencies including Federal, State, and regulatory bodies.
- May assist with employee performance evaluations, as well as any coaching opportunities.
- Assists with enhancing the organization's laboratory services by planning, implementing, and evaluating policies, programs, and practices as well as promoting education for self and staff.
- Provides swift and appropriate feedback to needs and inquiries that arise from management, staff, and fellow team members.
- Functions within budgetary guidelines making sound financial decisions; adhere to purchasing practices and policy, assess and implement cost controls, participate in care path formulation and maintenance.
- Assists with Department Budgets, Preparation, and Monitoring.
- Participates in Multi-disciplinary and Department Teams. Represents Department & Organization in a professional manner, as needed, both internally and externally.
- Assists with complaint resolutions and maintains a professional attitude and behavior.
- Ensures patient satisfaction is met through staff encounters and practices. Assures staff competencies are consistently met.
- Ensures quality controls are maintained and safety standards are consistently met.
- Scrutinize/investigate/research/evaluate the new and changing technologies/products/programs/approaches in today’s health care settings to see if that might be for the good of LRHS and those they serve.
- Shall be able to function in this capacity with minimal direction or oversight. Responds to change with open communication and a willing attitude. Possesses the ability to work with other hospital departments in a collaborative manner to enhance the onboarding experience for all staff.
- Serves as a resource person for LRHS staff, patients, and the community.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Biology, Chemistry or related field
- Must have: MT (AMT or ASCP equivalent); Knowledge and experience with CLIA, CAP, FDA, AABB, JC strongly desired.
- Fully understand all the concepts of the Lab and this role
Annual influenza vaccine required.
