Description:
The Lab Technician tests and assesses in-process and finished product samples, returns vital data to the concerned production areas, ensuring the production of product specific polypropylene, while maintaining safety, integrity, and efficiency of the facility.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Receive and evaluate (Wet, Physical-Chemical, and Physical Properties) samples per the prescribed sampling schedules, and test/evaluate samples per the standard protocol.
- Ensure the proper maintenance, calibration, and operation of laboratory equipment for accuracy.
- Ensure laboratory performance is at optimal capacity, and that the product meets quality specifications, while following all established safety procedures.
- Maintaining the laboratory's supplies and inventory.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 4 months experience in laboratory testing and data interpretation within the chemical industry.
- Experience in use of Melt Flow Indexers, FTIR, IMR, and X-ray for sample analysis.
- Experience in assessing and evaluating data, trends, modeling, and troubleshooting issues.
- Physically able to use standard safety equipment.
- Ability to work with limited supervision for 12 hr. rotating shifts, and the flexibility to work potential overtime, if needed (including weekends and holidays), given advanced notice.
- Good communication skills, the ability to focus on quick-changing tasks, and confidence in various Microsoft computer applications.
- Enjoy working in a team environment, and enjoy collaborating with and supporting others in the Laboratory, Operations, Maintenance, etc.
Preferred Skills:
- Safety knowledge of mechanical equipment, instrumentation, and chemicals.
- Experience working with electronic notebook data entry systems, including automated interfacing with laboratory equipment.
- Experience in polymer rheology and spectroscopy, chemical evaluations, microscopy, physical testing, etc.
