In addition, the hospital provides the Orbera® gastric balloon procedure. The hospital has been recognized as one of the first health care facilities in the nation to receive a Blue Distinction® Center for bariatric surgery.The hospital partnered with sister facility, UofL Health – Peace Hospital to open a voluntary inpatient medical detox unit at Mary & Elizabeth Hospital to care for patients with substance use disorders. Most recently, Cancer & Blood Specialists, located adjacent to the Mary & Elizabeth Hospital campus, became the third location of UofL Health – Brown Cancer Center. At the center, patients will have continuity of care with trusted oncology and hematology providers, along with access to the multidisciplinary care, pioneering research and clinical trials of the Brown Cancer Center. Responsibilities

Job Summary

• Demonstrates knowledge of nursing theory and practice within the scope of practice defined for LPNs by the Kentucky Board of NursingCompletes a comprehensive daily assessment on assigned patients as evidenced by daily shift report and documentation in the patient’s recordPrioritizes care based on nursing assessment of patient needs as evidenced by patient’s progress toward achievement of established goalsReviews and revises patient care plans according to established policy and procedureDelivers direct patient care based on physicians’ orders and nursing interventions established on patient care plan as evidenced by documentation in the patient’s recordDocuments interventions and progress towards patient goalsDemonstrates knowledge of basic laboratory values by notifying nursing manager and/or physician of any abnormalities within shift of lab data; ensures critical lab results reported within 30 minutesAdministers and documents prescribed medications (scheduled/PRN) according to schedule and procedureDemonstrates initiative in performance of nursing care by securing and implementing physicians’ orders and nursing orders without direct instructions of supervisorReviews and ensures implementation of all MD orders each shift

Qualifications
