The LNG HAZMAT Transport Driver will provide extensive knowledge, experience, and leadership for the safe transportation of natural gas projects. This position will report directly to the Director of Transportation. The role will be responsible for operating and maintaining equipment and supporting LNG delivery and overall project success, all while providing top-level customer service and leadership in the field.
The LNG HAZMAT Driver must be local to Waterloo, Iowa (IA), and/or Garner, Iowa (IA). The LNG route is roughly 410 miles round trip. The load will be one (1) gas trailer per day until the end of the year. The load is going from Waterloo, IA to Madison, WI. The end-of-the-year route will change from Waterloo, IA, to Milan, IL (under 300 miles round trip). The driver should be home every night and potentially stay out one night should something arise.
Responsibilities for the LNG HAZMAT Transport Driver include, but are not limited to:
- Safely operating company equipment associated with the delivering, loading, and off-loading of LNG (Liquid Natural Gas)
- Safely deliver a load of LNG every other day (approx. a 200-mile round trip per delivery) to a customer site location.
- Understand applications and limitations of company equipment
- Participate in pre-job planning and implementation activities as required
- Set up and move equipment to and around project locations
- Able to identify potential issues with company equipment as well as able to identify other issues during pre/post trip inspections
- Properly report equipment defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to equipment
- Operate mid to heavy-duty vehicles alone combined with trailers
- Secure cargo for transportation using chains, binders, tarps, bungee cords, and ratchets
- Adequately document daily activities including hours of service, fuel tracking, and all DOT regulations
- Understand and ensure compliance with company standard operating procedures and policies
- Have a sound understanding of DOT regulations, internal policies, government safety, and regulatory standards, and ensure these policies and standards are applied to daily activities and job sites
- Maintain a clean environment inside and outside of the assigned vehicle
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications for the LNG HAZMAT Transport Driver include, but are not limited to:
- US Military Veteran, National Guard/Reserve member, or Military Spouse preferred.
- Requires a high school education or GED.
- The LNG HAZMAT Driver must be local to Waterloo, Iowa (IA) and/or Garner, Iowa (IA).
- Must be able to drive a manual transmission.
- 3+ years CDL driving experience with HAZMAT required. Familiarity with Samsara preferred.
- Valid DOT License & CDL license and HAZMAT Endorsement from the permanent home state.
- All Drivers must have an acceptable motor vehicle record. Must provide moving violations from the past 3 years.
- Driver must have a current DOT Med Card completed by a registered medical professional and meet DOT requirements.
- Driver must have a valid Driver’s & CDL License & meet Homeland Security/Transportation Administration requirements.
- Obtain Texas Railroad Commission LNG & CNG Certification as required by company license within 45 days of start date.
- Previous employers and references will be checked and must be verifiable.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with strong leadership qualities.
- Able to use personal computer software proficiently, such as Word, Excel, and/or electronic mail.
- Able to respond to customers with courtesy and knowledge, in person and by telephone, applying good judgment and customer service skills, all while maintaining a positive personal appearance.
- Present and maintain a good driving record to operate vehicles safely and comply with laws and company policies.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any other certifications as required by regulations or customers.
