HOURLY RATE: $20.00 - $21.00

- Work Shift: Wednesday - Thursday, 11AM - 7:30PM

Kitchen Cook
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Cook to join our team, providing nutritious and appealing meals in a residential setting serving older adults. The ideal candidate will have experience cooking for large groups and a background in healthcare, homeless services, or working with individuals with behavioral challenges. This role is integral to ensuring the well-being of our residents by preparing meals that meet dietary and nutritional needs in a safe and respectful environment.
Responsibilities and Initiatives
To help NHF provide nutritional meals, you will:
- Prepare and cook meals for a large volume of guests, adhering to dietary guidelines and guest preferences.
- Assist Kitchen Manager with planning menus, ensuring they are nutritious, cost-effective, and cater to special dietary requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Manage inventory, including ordering and stocking food supplies and minimizing waste.
- Adapt to occasional changes in meal schedules and work an additional day as needed.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to create a supportive and positive dining experience for guests.
- Interact respectfully with guest, demonstrating sensitivity to their individual needs and preferences.
- Assist Kitchen Manager in guiding, educating and collaborating with Tierra Del Sol Staff and Interns.
- Ensure Kitchen and Dining Room areas are always clean and sanitary.
- Complete additional assignment(s) to meet the needs of the facility.
- Assist Kitchen Manager in maintaining the organization and cleanliness of walk in fridge and freezer areas.
- Always follows NHF policies and procedues.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a residential, healthcare, or similar environment.
- Experience cooking for large groups or high-volume settings.
- Understanding of dietary restrictions, food safety protocols, and nutritional needs.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals experiencing behavioral challenges or other unique needs.
- Always conduct and maintain professional boundaries.
- Strong approach to cleanliness and directives.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Flexibility to occasionally work an additional day as required.
- Experience Working in Healthcare or Homeless Service settings, preferred.
- SERV Safe Certification or equivalent food safety training, preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish, preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
The duties as described will require frequent standing and walking for long periods of time. The employee will frequently bend/stoop, squat, reach above the shoulders, twist, and turn, kneel, and push/pull. The employee will frequently be required to lift/pull/push/move up to 50 pounds. The employee must have good dexterity, especially when handling hot pans, broilers, fryers, sharp utensils and tools. Must utilize conversational speech for effective verbal communication. Noise level is high in some guest care areas. Must be able to hear equipment alarms, overhead pages, and direct verbal communication. Employees must be able to withstand extremely hot or cold environments. Ability to safely navigate all areas pertaining to job role.
