St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School (SSSAS) of Alexandria, VA is looking to hire a dynamic Long Term Substitute Teacher from mid-March until mid-June who wants to make a real difference in the lives of students. The Long Term Substitute will play a vital role in providing a positive and nurturing learning environment for young students during the absence of the Kindergarten Assistant. The primary responsibility will be to maintain continuity in instruction and support the educational development of Kindergarten students. Other key responsibilities will include supporting the lead teacher in delivering engaging lessons and activities aligned with the established curriculum and learning objectives. The candidate will assist in adapting materials and methods to meet the diverse needs of students while fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

Additional responsibilities include helping with daily transitions, lunch, recess and routine classroom activities, as well as preparing and organizing materials and learning spaces. The candidate will contribute to maintaining a safe environment that promotes positive behavior and social-emotional growth. Collaboration with teachers, specialists and support staff is essential to ensure a holistic approach to student development, along with maintaining clear and open communication with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.

The successful candidate will be required to exercise professional judgment and responsibility in keeping with the expectations of the School's faculty.

The School accepts candidates with the following minimal qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or the equivalent; advanced degrees are strongly encouraged; state certification is not required.
2. A strong commitment to educating a diverse student body within a caring and creative environment.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

1. Previous teaching experience in an early elementary classroom.
