Salary Range:$52,924-$65,377
SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Environmental Engineer, will assist in keeping Kennedy Valve proactive in environmental compliance and stewardship activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist in environmental inspections, record-keeping, and documentation to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Assist with waste stream management (hazardous, electronic, universal, regulated medical, non-hazardous, and scrap waste).
• Ensure waste streams are maintained, managed, disposed of, or transported according to regulations.
• Assist in the facilitation of waste reduction and sustainability at the facility.
• Assist with day-to-day environmental systems data collection through use of technology/software programs to maintain or exceed compliance expectations of local, state, and federal government organizations.
• Regular interaction with all levels of team members including division and corporate management will be required as part of this position.
• Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments, and other safety assessments.
• Assist with the company’s environmental management system (EMS) and apply Kennedy Valve/McWane work instructions.
• Assist with environmental auditing, regulatory reporting, and participate in internal third party and regulatory compliance audits.
• Attend professional development and continuing education programs as required.
• Maintain a professional demeanor; provide friendly and courteous customer service.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field, preferred.
• 1 to 5 years of work experience as an Environmental Technician in metal casting, metal fabrication, metal forming /stamping industries, preferred.
• A working understanding of environmental regulations is strongly desired. Experience in industrial hygiene, risk assessment/management is a plus.
• Effective written, technical, and oral communication skills.
• Proficient user of MS Office programs; especially Excel.
• Initiative-taking attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven work environment.
• Attention to detail through ambitious goal setting and productive project management.
• Firm foundation of trust through excellent verbal and written communication.
• Projects a consistent, reliable presence that inspires calm and confidence in team members.
• Sound technical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Standing for extended periods of time, walking throughout the facility on a daily basis, some daily deskwork is required.
• Ability to walk on a variety of surfaces (wet, slippery, snowy, sandy, etc.)
• Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, climb, kneel, and crouch.
• Ability to work at elevated heights.
• Must be able to wear a respirator.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Exposed to elements, such as cold, heat, noise, dust, odors, fumes, etc.
• Work time is spent on the manufacturing floor and in a managerial office.
• Potential for overtime and weekend coverage depending on project or emergencies.
• Minimal travel requirements to other McWane facilities and suppliers, attending training, and professional development opportunities.
• Must be able/willing to drive a powered industrial vehicle.
• Must be able to operate a pallet jack.
• Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required.
