About the job:
This Alfa Laval Summer Internship is designed to bring a college student that has completed their second or third year of college to give them experience of working in a technology driven sales company. Based on their performance of the internship, and roles that need to be filled in future years, this intern would be prepared to step into an entry-level role in the energy division.
As part of the intern program, you will:
Assist with the quoting and selling of Alfa Laval products and services within the assigned area of responsibility. Serving customers to identify needs and designing solutions to meet air cooler requirements. Providing support to sales team and customers, including complex quotations and supporting remaining sales team in new sales opportunities, to include the following:
Learn about the High Efficiency products that the Energy division offers, the benefits, and the markets that utilize our technology.
Receive inquiries from potential and current customers, reviewing relevant inquiry documents and specification.
Size and price air coolers to meet the specific needs of potential customers.
Provides written proposals that accurately describe the coolers and comments resulting from spec review.
Assists sales team with other tasks as needed to support customers.
Follows all safety policies and company-wide safety requirements; encourages action assuring safe behavior; confronts unsafe behavior and conditions proactively and positively.
Complies with all company policies and procedures.
Conducts themselves in a considerate, professional, cooperative and helpful manner toward fellow employees, customers, vendors and visitors
What you know:
This role requires a student enrolled in a Bachelor of Science degree program in chemical or mechanical engineering.
A GPA minimum of 3.0
This program is designed for students that have finished their sophomore or junior year.
Engineering knowledge gained during the first two years college is adequate to fulfill this role.
Manufacturing experience with heat transfer equipment a plus
Strong team collaboration and interpersonal communication skills required, to include verbal and written skills.
Candidate must be adept at taking direction, work well within cross-functional teams, and be customer focused. Safe work practices, proper ethics, and attention to detail are required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (including Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint).
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team environment.
Flexibility in work hours based on school schedule.
