Our firm is offering an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to join our team as a Consulting Controller for a roughly 6-month contract in the DC metro area. This pivotal role will be at the heart of our operations, providing strategic financial guidance and oversight to our clients in the manufacturing sector. You will be responsible for managing and controlling all financial-related activities, including direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, job costing, legal, property management, deal analysis and negotiations, investor relationships and partnership compliance, and private and institutional financing.

As the interim Controller, you will be expected to:
1. Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
3. Regularly analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of the organization’s financial status.
4. Assist the organization’s leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
5. Oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period.
6. Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the program vice presidents; continuously collaborate with program vice presidents to assess the financial efficacy of program operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations.
7. Lead the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring all audit issues are resolved, and all compliance issues are met, and the preparation of the annual financial statements is in accordance with U.S. GAAP and federal, state and other required supplementary schedules and information.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the Consulting Controller position should possess the following qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior financial managerial position with a proven record of success.
2. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration. CPA, CMA, or other relevant certification is strongly preferred.
3. Experience working in a manufacturing environment is required.
4. Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger functionalities, and manufacturing accounting.
5. Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
6. Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills.
7. Advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software.
8. Exceptional communication and presentation skills; able to explain complex financial matters in simple terms for a variety of audiences.
9. Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
10. Strong commitment to developing team members.
11. Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems.
