Job Summary: Grow the agency's portfolio through marketing insurance products to prospective customers and educating existing customers on additional products to meet their needs.
Essential Functions:
Job Specific
- Actively work to build a profitable book of business by identifying and closing qualified leads.
- Meet or exceed the individual sales goals established annually.
- Actively engage in networking and establishing centers of influence
- Participate in ongoing training, education, and sales meetings to improve sales skills and enhance industry and product knowledge.
- Coordinate client service with the account management team for new business, renewals, reviews, and claims.
- Generate opportunities to account round, cross-sell and refer business within the First State company.
- Promote the business relationship between First State Insurance and the carriers with which we work.
- Provide clients with strong technical advice and risk management services that meet their insurance needs while ensuring compliance with all company policies and regulations.
- Maintain accurate customer records by entering appropriate data into the customer management system; completing necessary paperwork/applications; reviewing new and renewal policies.
- Mentor new agency employees on agency procedure as necessary.
- All other duties as assigned.
Agency Specific
- Exhibit professionalism in appearance and attitude, maintaining confidentiality and ethical behavior at all times.
- Provide timely assistance and support to both co-workers and customers, ensuring exceptional service and accurate information.
- Adhere to regular attendance, punctuality, and break schedules.
- Take responsibility for personal actions and be accountable for performance.
- Promote and cross-sell company services while participating in training opportunities as required.
- Remain vigilant and knowledgeable about crisis procedures, including emergency protocols such as robbery.
- Comply with all bank policies, procedures, and regulations, and report any concerns to Human Resources or upper-level management immediately.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or a related field, and/or 1-3 relevant insurance industry experience required.
- Current Nebraska Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance license required (or ability to obtain within a specified period of time).
- Valid motor vehicle driver's license required.

Physical Demands:
- Engage in routine physical activities such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to read reports and use a computer effectively.
- Lift and carry items up to 30 pounds daily, including file boxes and office supplies.
Work Environment:
- Primarily indoors in an environmentally controlled setting.
- Occasional travel by car to visit other company locations may be required.
- Flexibility for occasional evening and weekend work to achieve established goals.
