Contract to hire opportunity in NE Houston at a fabrication shop!
An Instrument Fitter is responsible for assembling and installing various instruments and control systems on equipment. This involves reading and interpreting technical specifications, testing and troubleshooting equipment, and collaborating with other professionals on project.
Experience & Education
High school graduate or equivalent.
3-5 years of with industrial instrumentation systems.
Manufacturing or related work experience required.
Specialty training preferred
Knowledge & Skills:
• Visual acuity and manual dexterity.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Highly motivated self-starter.
• Strong math skills.
• Ability to read manufacturing drawings and documents.
• Ability to use appropriate measuring tools.
• Able to discern materials by sight, handling, and other basic methods.
• Completed a recognized industrial mechanical course, technical diploma or equivalent education and work experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• The capability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as individually
• A strong commitment to safety and quality assurance
Essential Functions:
• Read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, schematics, and technical drawings to assign tasks and accurately process materials and equipment.
• Install and repair various types of instrumentation such as temperature, pressure, level, and flow gauges.
• Thread, bend, cut and install tubing and piping systems as per specifications, templates and drawings.
• Test and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality and safety measures.
• Contribute to the maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment as required.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Adhere to safety regulations and procedures.
• Work with shop floor manager to perform required work to help maintain schedule.
• All other duties as assigned by the shop floor manager.
