Job Summary and Qualifications
The Innovation Operations Manager will report to the Director of Innovation Location Operations and coordinate the cost-effective operational execution of all activities within the CT&I innovation hubs. This specialist will work to develop and execute innovative operations models, ensuring efficiency, and engage/direct innovative products through the implementation and monitoring of process optimization goals for the clinical innovation hub.
The Innovation Operations Manager incorporates hospital operations, service lines, and outpatient services to facilitate a holistic and broad view across the hub facility through job rotation, didactic, and experimental learnings. Over the course of time, the Innovation Operations Manager will become knowledgeable regarding the internal and external forces that shape the current state of hospital and outpatient operations, while incorporating future state operational practices. In this role, the manager will be able to describe the application of evaluative criteria in five categories: Care process, access to care, administrative efficiency, equity of care, and health outcomes as each of these and collectively apply to an innovative healthcare environment.
The operations manager will work with the local hub facility leadership to oversee innovation and Care Transformation work. This will include the integration of CT&I activities into the day to day operations of the hub, observation of current state, and provide guidance and support for the deployment methods and execution, as well as providing strategic thinking on how to manage operations around these new models of care. They will interact with the C-suite of the hub facility to assist with removing barriers, providing updates and transparency on innovation strategy and progress, and support reporting on project success. The manager will work with the Innovation Clinical Operations team [e.g., Project Management, Clinical Operations, Technical Development, etc.] and report directly to the Director of Innovation Location Operations.
This job may required up to 50% travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and execute the plan for continuous operational integration for CT&I initiatives.
- Support the success of the annual innovation hub process optimization goals and measures of success.
- Ensure engagement in improvement initiatives to standardize operational processes, enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and address gaps and opportunities in quality.
- Monitor and execute on key performance metrics, and support the operationalized improved processes as needed.
- Review quantitative and qualitative initiative feedback and integrate iterations / updates early and often.
- Support executive reporting on initiative-specific learnings and improvement areas from innovation hub implementation.
- Support the Director of Innovation Location Operations on the oversight of the design, prototyping, and testing of CT&I initiatives in the innovation hub facilities [e.g., departments, facility, simulation center, innovation space].
- Provide guidance and support on operational integration plans and execution approaches based on their detailed understanding of the operations at the innovation hub.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to execute various proofs of concepts and evaluations of new products, processes and technologies.
- Escalate operational cost and efficiency concerns to clinical innovation hub lead as necessary.
- Assess operational scalability of innovation hub initiatives to other sites.
FINANCE
- Assists assigned departments in establishing measures of performance, increased productivity, quality improvement, cost controls and maximum utilization of facilities.
- Ability to track impedance to or impact of financial decisions that may have effect on the progressive iteration of products.
GROWTH
- Observes and evaluates operations in determined areas, proposes long-term initiatives, projects or suggests process improvements.
- Reviews professional literature to keep abreast of treads, legislation, and current events in the healthcare industry both nationally and locally.
- Collaborates to determine new ways of solving for common operations opportunities by means of critical thinking skills and application of edge-leading strategies gleaned from healthcare industries.
PEOPLE
- Consults with senior administrative team to confirm access to areas for learning and developing operations skills.
- Attends and participates in departmental, administrative, and executive level meetings as invited by appropriate staff to gain a comprehensive understanding of organizational structure, operations, and objectives.
- Assimilates seamlessly into various work teams, represents the vision and values of CT&I, while honoring the facility’s MVV.
- Support continuous development and learnings as appropriate with innovation hub teams to advance their abilities to engage and lead CT&I work onsite as change agents and innovation leaders.
QUALITY
- Provides leadership to assigned areas of responsibility to ensure accountability for maintaining and monitoring utilization of resources, physical space, equipment, department protocols, standards, policies, and practices.
- Collaborates with the corporate team in the design engineering of the Innovation Hub.
SERVICE
- Actively supports facility community efforts; represents the hospital in the community through participation in community organizations, agencies, speaker bureaus etc.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in business or a health related field required
- Specialty skills in operation or logistics as demonstrated by work experience (eg. Military background), preferred
- Previously hospital leadership experience, prefer
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or willingness to complete the certification, preferred
