Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician troubleshoots, repairs, performs daily maintenance tasks and preventive maintenance on our manufacturing equipment. Must be familiar with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. It is expected that this person will learn and understand our specific equipment over time in order to have better reliability and less down time. They will also assist with machinery installations, capital projects as well as working closely with contractors selected for any repair or installation. They will take immediate direction and daily responsibilities from the Maintenance Manager and/or Assistant Plant Manager.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the highest safety standards are developed, met and maintained for all equipment, processes and facilities.
- Maintain plant equipment and facilities with proven abilities in the following: mechanical, hydraulic and electrical
- Provides support within the maintenance department in proactive improvement of equipment uptime
- Install, repair and maintain industrial equipment in building and plant
- Assist in maintaining critical spare parts inventory in order
- Perform routine preventative maintenance (PM’s) on machinery, controls, and forklifts
- Utilize Epicor PM Module; Clocking in/out of maintenance jobs to collect labor hours and measure efficiency
- Maintain a clean and orderly work place in the maintenance department
- Perform work following defined work procedures and safety protocols with limited supervision.
- Work closely with contractors for repairs/PM’s on furnaces, machinery and equipment
- Ensure maintenance work meets all applicable code requirements
- This position may direct CBA employees, when necessary, in addition to training in the safe operation of equipment or solicit and oversee their help during repairs.
- Ability to work in high places
- Actively attend and participate in weekly Level 10 meeting
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience in the maintenance/use of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems
- Safety experience including lock out tag out and confined space experience
- Ability to operate overhead cranes, lift trucks/tow motors
- Ability to perform welding as needed (MIG/TIG a plus)
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Journeyman/Millwright industrial, electrical/mechanical maintenance work in an industrial/manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of combustion furnace repair and controller operation required
- Ability/Experience to use/understand PLC
- Working knowledge of electrical diagnostics and repair, as well as an understanding of related code regulations

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time second shift position Monday through Friday and does require overtime
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
- Little to no travel will be required
- Training will take place on first shift for a period of time
