AMP is seeking to hire an Independent Contractor for part-time (up to 40 hours monthly), flexible work to aid our subscription-based OSHA Safety training program. Under this contractual arrangement, the individual will create and present in person OSHA training at designated locations within Ohio (western, northwestern, and northeastern Ohio) on a monthly basis.
Essential Functions:
- Create content and conduct monthly 1- to 2-hour safety meetings at designated Member locations with engaging presentations on OSHA topics. Some locations will require that the same presentation be provided twice in one day. Presentations shall be engaging and provide awareness on the subject matter.
- Schedule all visits with designated locations (various locations across the state of Ohio) prior to the visit. Contractor shall provide a written preliminary schedule of topics for all member communities at the beginning of each year and then a monthly/ quarterly calendar as visits are scheduled for AMP staff to review and approve.
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:
- A two- or four-year degree in a safety related field is preferred; a minimum of 3 years’ experience with safety programs is required.
- Electric industry experience with a working knowledge of Safety/OSHA rules/ regulations and electric utility industry NESC and NFPA 70E experience is required. A journeyman lineworker or equivalent is preferred.
- CSP or LSP is desired
- OSHA 500/501 OSHA Outreach Instructor desired.
- Must be certified in CPR and First Aid.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and the ability to interact effectively with employees, management, and elected officials.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 20 lbs.; must, on occasion, lift equipment that weighs 200 lbs.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel 95% of the time within the organization’s footprint.
Contract shall cover:
- Mileage, lodging and other items as agreed upon in a contractual document.
- Contractor agrees to maintain, at their sole cost and expense, insurance for claims under any workers’ compensation act or unemployment liability laws, and for any and all other claims of any kind for damage or theft to property or for personal injury, including death, made by anyone whomsoever, that may arise from any activities or services performed pursuant to this Agreement, either by Contractor or any subcontractor, or by anyone directly or indirectly engaged or employed by either. Contractor agrees to provide AMP with certificates evidencing the required coverage before beginning the Services and at any time subsequently requested during the term of this Agreement. Contractor agrees to name AMP as an additional insurer under any applicable policy of insurance, as permitted by law and/ or regulation.
