Duration: 12 months contract, extendable up to 36 months

In Vivo Biologist
Summary:
The Internal Medicine Research Unit (IMRU) is committed to finding cures for cardiovascular diseases, renal diseases, and metabolic diseases.
Our goal is to build a research team of driven scientists focused on identifying Client targets within these diseases.
This role will focus on validating new therapeutic targets using in vivo rodent models of disease as well as downstream cell and molecular biology characterization of tissues and blood samples.
The role may be expanded to include more advanced in vivo physiological characterization and/or in vitro cell culture work.
Responsibilities:
Execute and assist with in vivo experiments, including intermediate analyses and terminal tissue collection
Prepare buffers, homogenize tissues, and assess endpoints related to protein or RNA expression
Contribute to and/or revise IACUC protocols, keep detailed lab notebooks and meticulously follow procedures
Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in Biology, Physiology or Biochemistry with a minimum of 0-3+ years experience, or Master's degree in a related discipline
A passionate scientist committed to applying their scientific background to drug discovery efforts surrounding human diseases
Successful completion of Biochemistry and Cell/Molecular Biology coursework along with intensive hands-on laboratory experience is essential
Ability to perform wet lab and vivarium procedures is required
Basic understanding of the principles of pharmacology and/or fundamental cell and molecular biology assays
Hands-on experience conducting in vivo studies using rodent models
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proficient with basic RNA and/or protein expression wet lab analyses preferred
