Responsibilities & Qualifications:The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the IT team in the design, development, and management of a scalable, reliable and cost-effective infrastructure and security platform. The scope of responsibility encompasses senior level support of the network and server infrastructure, systems and security administration. This person also possesses strong project management and vendor management experience in a service-oriented approach to infrastructure operations. This role reports directly to IT Operations and Infrastructure Manager but will interact with the management at all levels of the organization and information technology professionals to provide IT Services. The successful candidate will be a highly driven, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to problems
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the national on-site and off-site network and hardware landscape
- Administers hands-on configuration and implementation of infrastructure upstarts, upgrades and ongoing maintenance along with the larger IT team
- Plans, tests and installs applications, performs regular software and firmware upgrades, and routinely patches enterprise systems
- Manages a comprehensive 24×7 health monitoring of network and applications with software such as Nagios
- Performs high-level root-cause analysis for service interruption recovery and creating preventive measure
- Ensures consistent reporting and tailors event logging in order to meet security and audit requirements
- Supports and maintains IaaS services with experience with Microsoft Azure
- Implements and maintains backups, security, and redundancy strategies
- Administers O365 environment
- Crafts custom scripts, reducing requirement of human interaction
- Prepares detailed hardware and labor and budget estimates for I&O projects and executes within time and budget constraints
- Builds and maintains technical documentation as it relates to I&O architecture projects
- Provides senior level support for issue resolution
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with vendors and partners
- Partners with the I&O IT team on reactive issue resolution and user support
- Fosters and grows internal relationships to develop operational solutions to business objectives and drives completion through user adoption
- Stays current on new technologies and platforms and provides direction on what emerging technologies should be implemented to enhance IT capabilities to meet business needs
- Supports the IT I&O compliance needs with applicable regulations and standards including but not limited to PCI DSS, PII, ISO 27001, and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 6 years' of progressive experience in data center operations and infrastructure support
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or related field or equivalent experience preferred
- Experience in project management
- Technical knowledge and experience with computing platforms, managing servers, high availability, backup/recovery, operating systems, anti-malware, patching, e-mail, and associated security as well as storage platforms – storage arrays, controllers, fiber switches, and data replication
- Experience with Dell servers, VMware Virtualization, Cisco Meraki Security Appliances and Switches, EMS Storage Systems, Windows Server and Linux Operating Systems, Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, DNS, Office 365 and Microsoft Azure, Microsoft SQL and MariaDB
- Security, Mobile Device Management, IDS, SIEM, and Anti-virus solutions
- WSUS, Crowd Strike, Avaya IP Office, security certificates, domain registries and system monitoring tools preferred
- Deep understanding of current and emerging I&O technologies and methods (e.g. cloud technologies) and experience employing these technologies
- Proven experience or demonstrated capability in leading IT transformational initiatives in complex and dynamic environments
- Success in leveraging traditional best practices such as ITSM, Dev Ops, Lean and other methods used to optimize agility
- Self-starter, motivated and takes initiative; strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills; able to work collaboratively with all levels of staff to resolve problems and external partners to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results
